Was that because he simply teleported to the top of the mountain/cliff? Or does walking to a point of altitude not require energy? And even IF there were thermal drafts to possibly bring him back up, isn't that a form of energy, as well, albeit natural?
And you're clearly not very familiar with long term strategy. Microsoft isn't making any money on their desktop installs either. Ask a few questions... how long has Red Hat been working at this? Now, how long has Canonical been working at it? Which one has more Momentum? Canonical is moving extremely fast and it's more important to look at where they have come from up to now to see where they are going. They're getting ready to blow past Red Hat and leave them in the dust. Why? Because they will own the Linux Desktop market in many ways (not 100% or even 50%, but the majority of Linux installs) and that will lead to the business side. Just wait and see.
A million phone calls coming in about email not working, and what are you doing? Posting on Slashdot. You, sir, are my hero. "Ssshhhh... guys, tell 'em to hold on... I'm previewing to check my URLs..."
So if virtualization reduces your budget to a fraction, and this thing from RH reduces it to another fraction, how long until they pay me to virtualize stuff?
In case you missed your own point... you are currently paying for corporate, closed source and you do NOT benefit. Think of all the money the government wastes on licenses that sit idle or just work poorly. If the government invested in Open Source, you WOULD benefit because better features would be available to YOU. So where do you want your money to go? (Not DO you want it to go... it's gone regardless). Option 1) Currently you have no chance of benefiting. Option 2) You have a chance. You decide.
Not to be flame bait, but isn't this the EXACT opposite of our Linux/Windows virus discussion? I am a "GNU/Linux" User, but I find the statement you make... humorous.
Nice sig, but Morality is knowing the right thing. Ethics is knowing why its the right thing. Discipline/self-control is doing the right thing when no one is looking. Integrity is being the same person in every aspect of life (integer - whole).
Off topic, but anyways...
A bit off topic (from Mars and all) but yes, there are good people out there and bad people out there. We all have one thing in common... the Dual-Life Value.
You forgot: sharks, lasers, overlords.
Don't let it happen again.

Majority of slashdotters... rural... got it.

I hear they're naming the next model DATA and if it is a success, another one named B4.
I showed this to my wife (NOT a slashdotter). Her comment: "That's just to go to the store to get milk, honey."
Or the photoshop in mine...

Yes, because they wouldn't want people accidentally clicking on more links now, would they...
Nothing to see here folks. Move along.
Rookies, the proper phrase would be... I AM

Did you remember to apply the match?
It shouldn't take a posse of marketing geniuses to come up with some good copy that sells a superior product.
You, my friend, clearly have not met the general public.

Hey, I've had a dream about this world where people are farmed and raised as nothing more than batteries. Thankfully this dude named Neo saved us.
Now, that's what I call funny
Um, because "50 cents" IS "a half" of what?... right, a dollar.
Why call it slashdot? Why not slashperiod?

clearly, you're new to
This says nothing about Microsoft OR Linux...this is all about the device manufacturers. Move along to an actual point.
Here. Here. I, too, am hoping that AMD will bring ATI into line, not the other way around.

You must be new to KDE. It would be Kustomizability.
