So We should stop making these specialized drugs because it doesn't past the $20 billion profit margin, that will nest the CEO a nice paycheck?

And since when is Goldman Sach's qualified to talk about benefits when their only motive is to make profit?

Don't let them make the big decisions on where and when society as a whole needs to go.

Since the dawn of AI, it was funded, and still is, by the military at all universities. The technology researched and further developed by larger corporations has been both lethal and non-lethal. Usually the university does the basic research and the company adds to it.
So now some new AI hotheads are protesting developing AI (i.e. technology) that will be used in military weapons?
Technology is neither good or bad, it's how you apply it. Anyone can take the research done by a university and apply it to weapons.

I would be more scared of the research and development being done by the larger companies that you don't hear of.

  14. If your going to make a study about violent video games, then use violent video games. (The Sims 3?)
While GTA V is a bit violent, it's not the same as a Call of Duty game, which is where you will find more representative base of people trending towards violence.
As it'a really kill another person game.

I think the study is correct, as I have been playing all video games all my life and I am not prone to any violent behavior, but i'm older and have been playing and developing them for a long time, I do play Call of duty WW2 and GTA V.

I also think that if your are prone to violence, then video game or not your going to do something.

But they should extend this to include more violent first person games.

  17. Yes it updates even when you turn off everything and tell it not to. I had one computer do this. And it was doing fine with not updating, then one day it started again all by itself and would not stop trying to update. The problem was there was something in there that was causing it to freeze at 82% (Creators update) and I would have to hardboot it, then it would roll back and then the process started again.
I did so much stuff trying to not get it to boot, nothing worked, so I had to figure out why it was not updating.
Long story short, I manually downloaded updates, and command line cleaned some stuff and removed the wireless card.
At least it's back to normal.

But the computers will reboot even if you don't want them and even when you want to leave work on them overnight, I never do that anymore.

You think just because Google is doing this it's something new or bad? The military has always worked with companies and universities to build advanced tech systems, including AI systems. This is nothing new. Why all of a sudden Google does it and it's news? I mean go to all the AI conferences and look at the papers and who funds them, It's all NSF, or DARPA or something government/military. Why do you think it's called the Military Industrial Complex.
Where do you think all the self driving cars and system came from? Military funding.
I worked on the Unmanned Ground Vehicle systems and we built the foundations for all of this, and that was 20 years ago. We used Neural Network road following and cooperative robotics and all that stuff. And the robotics could be vehicles and drones.
So its no surprise that Google is working on building this stuff and then going to take advantage of the results to build their own systems. Google is a company trying to make money, just like Northrop Grumman or Space X does in building rockets for the Military.
