Indeed you have gotten a competitive advantage. As a general rule I prefer online sites that take American Express. While I still have my MasterCard for the absolute something that can be only done on Mastercard (for example, my favorite grocery store Trader Joe's does not take Amex and is probably my only complaint about Trader Joe's). A store with Amex on their list of cards taken A) Is more likely to get purchases and B) Is more likely to get bigger purchases from me. Think about that retailers...
However I'd like to see the RIAA's feedback on the (at least alleged) LGPL violation by Sony in this. Would the RIAA (MPAA, BSA, etc.) encourage companies to practice what they preach? As posted previously on Slashdot there was a potential LGPL violation. My suspicion would be that the RIAA takes a "no comment" stance, hehehe....
Not sure whether or not this is Sarcasm, but I'll rebuke this as best I can:
1)Starbucks: Fine, I tell Starbucks they can set up Espresso stands in each Monorail car and station. Problem solved
2)Microsoft: Funny you'd think I'd be on my Laptop more using Microsoft applications when not distracted by needing to drive.
3) Boeing: HUH?? When do people fly from one side of Seattle to another?
1) You're running that much power back into the grid, the electric company might have something to say about that before one of their men get shocked working on a power line near you.
2) Any special add ons needed to your room?
etc. etc...
Sniffing me, then emailing me to plug the holes for a price is almost the equivalent of blackmail. This may earn you one of 2 things:
1) A very nasty letter from either management or legal telling you to cease and desist
2) From the more nasty management/legal, a call to the police..
The best way really, is the more conventional way, advertise, network and otherwise legitimately promote your business, this gray area finding holes and near-blackmail will get you more grief than it's worth.
By the way and offtopic: I woulda probably had first post if my new kitten didn't continuously stomp on my keyboard. Cans of air certainly are handy...
Well then getting "screwed" is something he'll have time to get used to in jail them...heck it'll probably feel the same way now that it will in 5 years if he does it again...
Well New Orleans is too big too just simply give it up and move on. I figure they'll have to just start pumping out water one problem neighborhood at a time. It might take months or years to fully recover but it has to be done. The cost of leaving all that alone is far worse.
Long term: I think a massive public works project will come out of this. Something along the lines of the Netherlands Delta Works Project. Only on a much more massive scale. Something along the lines of a massively huge dike between New Orleans and the ocean. Either that or find a way to drop enough dirt under New Orleans to raise it about 100 feet. Either that or maybe the United States will actually address and attempt to fix global warming with this hurricane blow?
Considering that they gave the presentation piece to MS Powerpoint.
In defense of Microsoft they put in a few neat things in MS Office 2003. The group collaboration is probably better than anything in OpenOffice. Though I admit freely I haven't used any revision tracking or group collaboration features, does it even have either one? I'm using OpenOffice 1.1.4 also and newer things might have popped up in 2.0.
But all the same, for the basics, I'd see no reason to pay the premium for MS Office for basic needs. However for businesses I can see several advantages of MS Office still.
But in my experience there are only 2 ways to deal with incompetence in management:
1) Take it up the arse (especially if he has any other redeeming quality)
2) Find a new manager yourself, fire up the ol' resume and start looking again
Well yeah, but one can reason that If your head is blown off, than by law of unintended consequences you'll be rendered blind? Can you be dead and blind at the same time? Granted the inability to see properly (aka blindness) is inherent in most dead people. Or must one be living in order to be blind?
I was going to say that too., I don't recall HP-UX or True64 unix being openly available. Even the old VMS acquired from DEC is still closely guarded code....is HP their own worst hypocrite?
I didn't realize that actually (a quick googling verified this), Imail was used at my former job up until about a year ago and had a good reputation there. My how the mighty have fallen...thanks for pointing that out.
If you're less 50 users, might just want to consider bringing the email in-house. Find a server that can stay up, install BSD and Postfix on it, and you're good to go. If you want windows, go with Windows 2003 server and a copy of Imail.
Don't want the job of handling email? Handyhosting has been relatively trouble free for 3 years now. I've also had good experiences with Linkline at my former job.
Well....the explicit statement is not that Linux is Evil, but that Linux is Cancer. The question being to complete the line of reasoning is "Is Cancer evil?" Most would argue yes of course.
However I think Ballmer's attack in this case is misdirected. Ballmer needs to redirect his attack if that is how he feels. Rather not attacking Linux, but the GPL (and related licenses) which would fit better with the metaphor than blaming Linux itself.
Heh, I found that my local ISP Linkline is offering speeds just as good as Speakeasy, same liberal ISP policies (allowing servers, etc) and their tech support kicks butt, for cheaper than Speakeasy. Of course if you're not in SoCal than this doesn't apply.
Well, I'm using the 10.1 Club Special edition (I'm a Mandrivaclub member and I get the special club distro with KDE 3.4 already). So far it's impressive though hardly an improvement from where I started with Mandrake (10.0). Also my sound does not work for some reason (just been too lazy to troubleshoot that one).
However lots more appeared fixed, for example Azureus runs smoothly which was a problem in 10.1 for me (non-club edition).
Overall I'm a big fan of Mandriva in general. Easiest to use, but grows with you as you learn (I started Linux at Mandriva 10.0 so I'm still a little wet behind the ears).
Well, if people are used to setting clocks with the daylight savings time change, fine we only really need one holiday then.
For example, we'll be putting the new DST change in March, so count off 6 months to september and create a new "don't burn the house down" holiday! Heck make it Labor day instead (It's labor day so get off your butt and labor to check your smoke alarm batteries). Problem solved...

Ya really want to talk giving? Have you seeded your favorite torrent today? *sneaks a peak at Azureus* yep 30:1 ratios, all are happy :-D

Man I get some funny ideas about being an S&M liason at a company...
*gets out whips and chains* any upper management need a beatin'
Sad part is I do remember what that is, long live the Apple II.

Ask a contractor
Seriously a few questions:

2) Any special add ons needed to your room?

I didn't get a chance to watch those episodes, I'm particularly curious as to the gas station fire myth, can you fill me in? Thanks!

He was "Mitnicked"...
*ba bum bum bing*

Heh, personally I'd be delighted to use CVS (and I have for some of my OpenOffice work), however you want to try teaching my department secretary CVS?

GPL code in UnixWare...SCO forced to either pay damages or open source the Kernel. Something I never thought I'd see.

I always wondered that myself....maybe an email form feedback with a captcha test attached to that hyperlink might prove more effective...
