Even being charged with a felony can cause problems. I recently got a job in a different country. They REQUIRED a FBI background check. I had been arrested for minor possession of alcohol a while ago and had forgotten about it because it was dismissed in court. But that was still on the FBI record because the communication between city/state and federal branches of law enforcement are shit. Long story short, it cost me the job. They flat-out told me they would hot hire me because I did not disclose everything. Seriously, fuck the police. And the federal state communication needs to be fixed too.

Ok, I can see part of your argument, but think about limiting a device rather than cutting all power to it.

For example, my grandmother was recently on the list for a lung transplant. The transplant team was to notify her via cell phone that they had a lung ready for her. Now, if she went to a movie theater where there was an "Auto-power off device" and some kid making 6 dollars an hour forgot to put up the sign saying that the device was active then she could have missed her chance to get a lung transplant because she was spending the time watching a movie, that could possibly be three hours long. What about a device that puts the phone on vibrate or something. Why is it that the Western world is so drastic?

TL;DR version, how about a "limiting switch" as opposed to "kill switch"?

Actually Sumo wrestlers are extremely fit. They may have quite a bit of fat, but under all that is an enormous amount of muscle. Their day is basically eating and training, so yes, they have more fat than most people, but their bmi is probably better than most the rest of us. They also slim down after retiring quite fast.

That aside, I'm not surprised to read that the Slashdot community is against this becoming a trend in their own country, but maybe the Slashdot community is, as we all guessed, overweight geeks behind a computer screen.

I moved to Japan about two years ago, and the diet here is completely different. There are also fast food options that are not McDonalds, Burger King, and other fatty American fast food companies. Outside every station there is it would be hard not to find a locally small locally owned curry or ramen shop. Even fast food chains', such as Yoshinoya and Matusya who specialize in gyudon (beef bowls), serve low calorie meals fast. According to Callorie King the Yoshinoya regular sized beef bowl only weighs in at 770 callories. The Large bowl, which I find almost impossible to finnish, only has 1090 callories. The large is almost 300 calories less than a BigMac and fries.

The tl;dr version. PUT DOWN YOUR FORK/SPOON/SKEWER/CHOPSTICKS/HUNTINGKNIFE and show some restraint people. I know I'm going to get modded down for this, but fat people generally disgust me. And, it is nearly impossible to reason with one about their caloric intake unless they have had a recent health problem related to it.

*Please not that this comes from someone who is 5'8" and used to weigh 250 lbs and has since slimmed down to 170 lbs after simply realizing they were disgusting.*

Wrong about the Japanese phone market. Japan doesn't care about it being small. They care about them being full of options and thin. Big screen, lots of programs, high megapixel camera, tv, mp3 player phones are all I see on the train in Tokyo, but the thing is they are thin. I mean REALLY THIN. Japan currently has the thinest flip phones in the world. I think they are DOCOMO phones. Don't feel like looking it up. The point is that thin is what I want. I want it wide and thin. Don't care about small. Learn more about countries before you spout generalizations about a community. *The opinions of a Japanese Studies Major.*

Looking at Yodobashi-Akiba (the largest electronics store in Japan) they have had the sign saying that PS3's are in stock for the last 1 and a half weeks as well as every other electronics store in Japan, but when you look above that sign it says the Wii is sold out. Just seems a little odd that the flu of 1918 was mentioned by her. Just saying that from speaking with a medical woman with a Masters and also knowing her very well that this could be very big. I'm not running into the streets shouting the end of the world, but it is good to be informed about this. So far there is no way to stop it and that fact that the Chinese are feeding the vaccine to the chickens only makes harder to control the virus after it mutates in response to the vaccine. That is what I would hope that all Tolkien fans were thinking, as was I, but people say it was impossible. The answer is that it is a simple power issue. For the most part the changes, the changing of parts, and the adding of chracters is because people wanted to leave their mark. The head of WETA states that his favorite character is the Orc leader that was added to the movies. He simply like what he has created, as Aule did in in the books with the Dwarves. I would have loved to have an exact copy, but people would have complained about it being 12 hrs. per movie. That and those bastards at WETA had to leave their mark.
