I prefer having a text menu over that ribbon style as well.
Because I had to support so many different programs I can't develop a memory for all the different shiny icons there are. A few of them are alike, but most are just too different for me to know what's what in any program. So, with simple text menus I can just read and find what I need faster. Icons hold no meaning to me.
At first I wasn't sure where it was going, but then the end made me chuckle.
I'll definitly remember this next time I put on my player when I'm flying. I'll probably get a few suspicious looks when I start grinning though.:-)

Don't be too sure about that. We've bought and are going to buy tools based solely on working with a cracked version for a while.
It's not that different with software like games etc., just that the scale is much less.
Got a new laptop (XXODD (Clevo) 570 series) recently and the way I use XP on it (dual boot with Ubuntu for now) is by stripping it first with nlite, then install it.
If it wasn't for some minor improvements like wireless I'd still use 2000 for the games. In fact, I've set XP to look like 2000 because I don't like the native XP look (nor the native Vista look).
Reminds me of that sci-fi story where in that world people thought for themselves, and parents took responsibility for their kids.
And there was this kind of thing they called fair justice everywhere. *thinks* I just can't remember the title...
Often people think it's not funny, but they don't think seriously enough about things before using Microsoft (or other for that matter) software.

The problem isn't the lack of knowledge, the problem is that you need the knowledge to do things that are not needed on Ubuntu for instance.
Set file permissions, locking down Windows and applications takes more work and knowledge than installing most popular distros.
If there's an equal choice between Windows and *nix, I always go for *nix.
I also don't get the idea of having two different sized/resolution monitors for a laptop/desktop.
I can see where extending the desktop is useful on a single machine in the case of Windows, but when running a *nix it'd be just as useful to get two laptops (one powerhouse, one low end perhaps) and have X (Xdmx) extend the desktop across both machines.
If the program can run as a cluster version as well on both laptops it would be completely cool.:-)
It is hybrid, it has a backup gasoline engine.
It's not really new, but it's better than all electric like the Tesla. It may be fast, but as it has been shown in the latest episode of Top Gear, it has a major drawback, recharging time.
Seeing the hydrogen-powered Honda FCX Clarity in that same episode showed how it can be done practically. Fill up like a gasoline car, be done in two minutes and drive on.
For those that haven't seen it, info and torrent link here.
I agree, I'm trying the game now but so far before I have real trouble with the UI the game crashes on me each time.
But thinking to have to constantly keep moving between cities, units, etc. makes me feel tired already. I've already gone gaga from keeping up with all the mess at work.
Because you're not interested in building houses.
Only until you find out you can get yours at IKEA as well.

Damn nerds are taking over Slashdot.
:-)
I vote this best comment of 2009!

:-P
Like he said, they own you...
Supply a good excuse to download music and other media? :-)
Might as well ask for rule 34...

And slashdot is already full of trolls.
Not to mention full of virtual words...
...and look at porn. You barely need Protected Mode for that.
:-)
You know, there have been quite a lot of digital STDs over the years. Might want to think again about using protected mode.

Is that backwards compatible with my 164 Q4?
Make a registry file with this in it:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
RunOnceComplete=dword:00000001
RunOnceHasShown=dword:0000000
It's also available as a group policy option with the IE7 adm templates (download from the Microsoft site).
Happy new year to you too. *grin*

Ever notice...? :-P
If I may suggest, call an exterminator and get a housekeeper to come in once a week.

You're thinking of Commander Adama.

Smart people influence the stupid people, eh?
Sorry, but explain eight years of Bush to me then.
