It's hilarious reading all these ridiculous posts demanding Bush be investigated written by people who have been completely brainwashed into submission. You've lost more liberties in the name of environmentalism and socialism than the patriot act could have ever dreamed of taking. The difference is that the liberties taken by the Republicans have been mostly given back. Good luck getting your liberty back from the Democrats.

You mean poor Republicans having to fix a problem caused by Democrats that started all the way back with Carter? Have you seen any calls for congressional hearings? Investigations? Know why? Because the Democrats can't find any Republicans to blame it on. The NYT tried to blame one of McCain's aides but their article was quickly debunked as total crap. I'd love it if one day the media started getting sued for the crap they invent.

Poor Democrats are having to face up to the brutal reality that their beloved socialism doesn't always work so fucking well. A few hundred years of history should have made that obvious though.

It will only die if you let it. That's the way this country works, if something doesn't have much support it will die. It's a government of the people and if the people are silent or if only a few speak up then that means maybe the bill should be left to die.

Oh, and griping on slashdot doesn't count either, though I know there are a huge number of people who think it does (or worse, should). Sites like this are great at creating an illusion of support.

If this is important to you then start a public awareness campaign and get out there and let people know how important this bill is. If you and everyone else doesn't then this bill might die.

If someone kills your people, then kills more of them, then even more, and 40 years later is still killing them, then you've already been at war for over 4 decades. You just haven't been fighting your end of it. Your choices are either force the people killing you to stop, or let them keep killing you with no repercussions. Perhaps publishing bloody images of all the victims of terrorism would help you understand this, or do you only want images that help your side of the argument published?

That graph shows usage for only one year. The price of oil has been rising because demand has been rising while supply has not. You need a graph that compares China's usage over a series of years before it can be relevant.
Second, you're assuming that all the oil goes into making gasoline. It doesn't, so that graph is misleading at best anyway.

Look at this graph from 2007:
    http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/ene_oil_con-energy-oil-consumption
If you go by total usage, the USA ranks #1.
If you go by per capita, we're #15.
Everything changes depending on how you arrange the numbers.

That graph you posted is nothing more than a perfect example of how easy it is to fool people by providing only one set of numbers arranged in one specific way. That's called "propaganda."
