your points are all over the place and don't even compare.
getting a letter or phone call is hardly a violation compared to what the government does (wiretaps, search and sieze, poof you disappear because your a suspected terrorist)
how can these be compared at all ?
YOU VOLUNTEERED your info when you got a discount card.
I agree whole heartedly with the "have some perspective". This applies to guns as well (as in guns cause a small amount of deaths but the hype factor is huge)
make the games easier so our industry can rack up the dough ??
sorry, guess Im feeling cynical this morning. but it does seem like most gamers I know finish games very quickly and then move on to something else. Seems like if they were more thought provoking instead of run around crazy shooting everything people would find them more enjoyable and recommend them
Who says the Nobel is so pure and warm and fuzzy ? Some of those peeps work on bio, nuclear, and chemical weapons. Some are involved with cloning. Some are just real good at math. Big friggin whoopdeedoo. The makers of VideoLAN will have more of an impact on my daily life than the guy who solves some math puzzle. 'course, I could be extremely short sighted;)
Try telling your main source of income they are not supposed to use email like that, then tell them
about the (complicated to them) alternatives, and you will see the challenge.
so the solution is either enforce reasonable size limits or work with customers who need and want higher limits to develop alternative methods (ftp, http indexing, whatever)
this may be "informative" but hardly realistic.
the average office worker has no clue that email system wasnt designed for such attachments. they dont think twice about sending a 12MB pagemaker file.
I worked at a small ISP whose primary income was from thousands of business dialup users, and most of them used email to send large files.
it hangs on my laptop where mandrake 9.2 (after fiddling around) is installed and knoppix shines.. wtf ?? need to play around with some of the parameters I guess.

Im calling you out on this one. The microsoft brand name still has a tremendous amount of pull, and linux is barely a whisper in the cubicles of corporate america. while a particularly well spoken IT dude may be be able to explain and convince a PHB to go with linux, most of them will just play it safe and go the MS way. PHBs dont trust their vendors for products they UNDERSTAND. For server operating systems ? Please.
wow. I kept hitting refresh to see the current search, and that one was always on there. almost every time. someone else posted that the internet is a sad place. how true. then I actually clicked on the ratemypoo link some else posted.

sounds like hibernation mode. or did I miss something ?
not all security updates require a reboot and you act like no one has ever heard of firewalls, mozilla, and ICF.

freedom is an ugly thing
how would this class have been taught in 1989 ? just do it that way.
seems like most people who even care about this will buy a dual format and avoid the problem altogether.
the defendant in question is not HQed in Virginia as our over zealous story poster would have us believe. They are in Florida.
