I played it and grew sick of it after a month and a half. After I got to LVL30 and started gaining advanced jobs, it felt like a chore to level them up. Trying to party up with noobs in Valkurm Dunes was hell, since none of them knew what they were doing. I know I was a noob at one point, too, but I wasn't half as bad as what I was putting up with.
There are plenty of games that adults play that are rated E and T. A whole slew of Mario and Zelda games that are a blast to play and, as I recall, has no part of picking posies or a small, white kitten named Baby. Price of Persia was named game of the year for several publications, yet it was only rated T. It doesn't need excessive gore and explicit sex and language to be a fun game. All it needs is good gameplay and [sometimes] a good story to tie it all together.
I think anyone who is bent on buying M rated games has security or self-image issues. Suppose I was playing the game you had described.. and suppose it was somehow more fun than GTA. Would you still not play it? Why?
Say what you will about Nintendo's inept marketing department, but they've got it right this time. Analysts are creaming over what this thing will do. Look at all of the free publicity that's come by simply announcing the product and the fact that it has two screens.
Perhaps it is included as a way to start a multiplayer gaming round. Maybe some people don't want to connect to just any person, they want to ask them first, and see how long they can play. They can use the instant messenger for that. And they can talk smack with it, too.
I think you're crazy. Making them a computer PCI/AGP card would just require people have a PC that is up to date to run them. That's the last thing console makers want. It's better in their eyes to just be able to plug the thing into your TV and start playing, not have a bunch of prerequisites.
The only problem is, there have been no press releases from Nintendo about this product since they announced it. Most of it has been speculation from CNN analysts.
No offense meant to you and I'm not trying to disprove your point. But at my local Gamestop, the only reason they were out of stock was because the few people who did buy them had to keep exchanging them for models that worked. I saw one kid come in with his dad and make his 4th exchange within a month. I then asked the cashier and he said that most of the people who bought them found defects.
No, but Sony made quality products before the Playstation, so it came naturally to them.
Nokia, on the other hand, can't release a phone where the battery falls off the back of it while I'm walking. Or a phone that randomly turns off at full battery life in the middle of a call..
unless you mean media as in "some 12 year old posting on a Gamefaqs message board"
Actually, I'm referring to GameSpy and IGN. I don't read GameSpy too much, but IGN's Gamecube channel constantly second-guesses Nintendo's decisions and says that they're making bad decisions without even seeing the end product (DS).
I'm not saying that it will never happen. I'm just saying since my laptop can barely run for 3 hours on battery alone, I'd like to see something more powerful than it run for longer than that.
Don't get me wrong... I'd LOVE for them to prove me wrong. It'd be a geek's wet dream. And I really hope they do some day. Preferably sooner than later.
The exageration gets you far, though. Remember the Xbox-GCN wars before they came out? Microsoft gave out untextured, unfilled, unenhanced polygon counts. So their numbers were through the roof. Nintendo gave out realistic gaming specs and were slammed by the media [and have been slammed ever since].
I'm hoping the battery life is good, too. I'll definitely give it a chance. Here's hoping.
No offense, but do you really think they could make a handheld system right now that is comparable in power to the PS2 while still retaining a halfway decent battery life? I surely don't.
I'd say it is probably more comparable in power to the PS1. Possibly more powerful, but not close to PS2.
It's just the marketing machine rearing it's ugly head. Remember when N64 was in development, Nintendo said it'd be as powerful as an SGI workstation? Remember when PS2 came out, Sony claimed it was fast enough to be a supercomputer with one processor? I'd really like to see them fit a supercomputer into a 4"x2"x.5" package.
It's a real-time strategy RPG based on parties of a maximum of 4 superheroes. You go against petty thugs and sometimes a lesser boss, then a larger boss at the end of the episode. Great game. It's nice and campy [in a good way -- it's set in the 60s comic era].
Probably because it's being held at the same time as the E3 trade show. So the people visiting to see E3 can take a break from the craziness and check it out.
but would people be willing to pay for what are essentially going to be no-name games
I'm gonna say no. Remember that the people who already have all 3 consoles and a PC aren't their core market. The people that are extremely casual gamers are their market. The people who are only going to buy a game because of the name, because they really don't know what's good. They'll stick to GTA, Madden, Halo, etc. because that's what's popular.
Was Virtual Boy supposed to be portable? It was the size of a small TV.
I don't believe they've done much else in the portable department aside from the insanely popular GameBoy line and the Game & Watch Gallery which got them pretty much into video games.
Sure, graphics do not make the game. But when you're playing a game like Madden and your team's white jerseys are sharply contrasting against the deep green field to the point where you have to squint your eyes to create anti-aliasing, I'd say there's a problem.
But THIS game has a 1.5 from IGN. IGNXbox is notoriously bad with ratings. You should take all of IGN's ratings with a grain of salt nowadays... especially Xbox.

1. I said "I've heard," not "It's an absolute fact."
2. Don't tell me to back up my facts if you don't do the same.
I've actually heard that the Gamecube SDK is one of the easiest to program with.

Sony has the will of the warrior! Microsoft and Nintendo have the will of a housewife, or a school marm! HAHA!
PS4 vs. Xbox3 vs. N6? Sony wins again!

With one key difference... the gaming media thinks it's new and exciting! Where Nintendo "hasn't gone" or has done badly, Sony will triumph!
I'd like to see it not get filled up with a bunch of shovelware. That's what they say now, but I'm sure it'll be given rehashes out the wazoo.

So I shouldn't have bet on the Eagles?
Damn my bookie!
You are correct. Have you smelled the Michael Jordan cologne? Exactly what it smells like...

That's the same thing I was thinking. I didn't check the score, but I saw "impenetrable" and "someone's sister" and I thought "oh no.."
