The shim wouldn't actually grant any additional privileges to the app, of course. Look at what Vista already does - if a program attempts to write to the Program Files directory, the write gets redirected to an area in the user's profile folder. For non-filesystem calls, I'd imagine that the shim would request elevation through the usual means - i.e., UAC.
Pages will have to be continued to be coded in a "broken" manner to support IE6/7. Hence, those pages would need this new tag to work on IE8.

I'm not sure that it's even fair to say that Nintendo underestimated demand. They're already producing 1.8 million systems a month. That's a ton of capacity, and they just may not be able to add much more within a reasonable timeframe. Besides, all that extra manufacturing capacity is going to be wasted money once the demand does dip.
That's half the point of the article. They're not labeled the first time they're presented. Then, the next section repeats the same charts, this time with labels. The idea is to see how easy it is to predict which pie goes with which console.
Overall, Microsoft announced revenues of $13.37 billion for the quarter and $51.12 billion for the full year, up 13 percent and 15 percent, respectively.
Microsoft's trying to fit in with the "cool kids" now.
Even in the linked article, the Sony exec admits that the software BC only supports about 88% of games compared to 100% for the hardware version. So, if you own one of those 12%, it most certainly does not work "just fine".
For those in the US, the PS2 doesn't exactly have any GF/DM, nor any beatmania actually worth playing. (Modding and importing doesn't count. Very few people actually do that, and besides, I don't know if it's even possible on the 360 yet.) Yes, the 360 needs good rhythm games. But they don't exist anywhere else yet either. (Here's hoping for a surprise stateside release of beatmaniaIIDX GOLD... yeah, right.)
Depends on your region. The only available package for the Wii in North America to this point includes Wii Sports, a remote, and a nunchuck. This is not a special "bundle" package; it's the only package available.
... wish it worked on more phones. Specifically, it would be nice if they could roll out a software update for the Windows Mobile-based phones (such as my T-Mobile MDA) to be able to use this feature. I'd be all over it then, but as it stands right now, I'd have to buy a new, less featureful phone to be able to use this service.
I could be wrong here, but here's how I read the post in question:
I think you miss the concept of a 64-bit _OS_ entirely. The CPU doesn't matter! An AMD or an Intel CPU running a 32-bit OS will work just fine [with iTunes]. An AMD or an Intel CPU running a 64-bit OS will _NOT_ work [with iTunes].
The point here isn't what your processor can and can't do. It's a question of what version of the OS you have installed. If you have 32-bit XP/Vista installed, it doesn't matter what processor you have running under it - it's a 32-bit system.
He's probably just trying to give a more tangible benefit to the average consumer. They may not know what DRM means, but they understand the words "higher quality".
I believe it's $180 for the standalone 120 GB drive. You know, for those of us who don't want to purchase a whole new system just for 100 GB of extra space.
At least for the US release of the PS3, old games were still region-locked. PS3 games aren't. Don't know if that'll hold true with the software emulation in the EU release.
Luckily, you can zoom through DDR games pretty quickly on the controller. It's a slightly different angle on the game, plus it lets you get back to where you were before quickly.

Freaking amen to that, 5700 and counting.
Decedents are rarely healthy.
It didn't necessarily require an amendment. It was just pushed as one to make it harder to override later.

(Happy) T-Mobile user in Kansas here. :)
"Outsourcing" is a bad word for it. They totally sold off the franchise. They have no rights to Guitar Hero anymore.
There is an option somewhere in the power control panel to change the behavior of that button, but it is admittedly far too well-hidden.
Nope, just a bad link. Take the slash off the end.
You are as soon as you come home. Plus, they can just revoke your citizenship while you're gone.

Time Crisis Wii.
Now.
It sounds like your problem is with American rock music, not with Guitar Hero.

And GH2 doesn't suck, either.
