Or just run a private server on one of these notebooks. For something low-traffic like this, that should be perfectly acceptable. UnrealIRCd is fairly easy to set up and runs on both Windows and *nix.

Another Trillian = adware troll. Trillian isn't adware. Simple as that. I don't get why people feel the need to lie about a program simply because it isn't OSS.
Adware? I think not. The only things that could be considered to be ads in Trillian Basic are the "Upgrade to Trillian Pro" menu item and the blurb about Pro in the Preferences screen. I don't think that's unreasonable that they want to sell the premiere version of their product, pushing it a little through the free one. There are no external ads whatsoever in the program.
He said he fears his company, which claims 100,000 different visitors a month to its website, will be driven out of business unless Google is forced to stop distributing the "free peeks".
Now, come on. This is Slashdot. What better innuendo setup could you possibly want?
(Goooooooogle has free V!agra that will make your pen1s longer!!)
As a resident of Kansas, I can attest that there has been no campagining whatsoever here. Kansas is always strongly Republican. No question about it. However, with Missouri just across the state line to the west, and my location in the Kansas City market, I am seeing a lot of "spillover" here from the campagining in the battleground state. The only states that really matter are Ohio, Missouri, Pennsylvania, and Florida. And I think we'd all prefer that we just threw out Florida's opinion anyway.
Parliament seats aren't national elections, though, are they? A few hundred votes makes a much bigger difference in a smaller sample set than it does against the whole voting population of a country.
The vote would go to the House of Representatives, and Kerry and Edwards are both senators, and Cheney's vote would be in the Senate if it were to be necessary. None of those three would get to vote.
which, in either case, shall be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the legislatures of three fourths of the several states, or by conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other mode of ratification may be proposed by the Congress;
Congress may propose amendments, but they cannot ratify them. This is left to the state legislatures. An amendment cannot come into being through an act of Congress alone.
As a side note, that passage of the Constitution also allows for ratifying conventions to be held in the states. However, this method has only been used once - to ratify the 21st Amendment, which repealed Prohibition (the 18th Amendment).
Trying to start a browser war here?;)
Seriously, though... Trillian definitely has the most features of any of the multi-IM clients available right now. With Trillian Pro, you can add some plugins that go beyond anything you'd ever expect from an IM client. It nearly transforms into your information hub. An RSS newsreader plugin, POP3 mail checking, a stock watcher and much more make Trillian Pro more than worth the $25 to me.
But suprisingly, the ntfs driver is robust enough that it can access hard drives that Windows will spit out saying a hardware error has occurred. Saved my ass twice already.
Amen to that. It's the only reason I have any data left off of a hard drive that failed a few months ago. While the data was copied at a disgustingly slow pace to my USB flash drive, it was preserved, even when Windows refused to even boot off of the drive.
I don't see any fingerpointing here. The grandparent poster was simply stating that there are still some fairly large economies that have not ended the uses of CFCs yet.
I think Slashdot could easily fill this mailbox. If everyone switches their email address to one of these mailboxes, the viruses and spambots would certainly do the work for us.
That 15% number may not be as meaningless as you think. The current law states that the transition will be mandatory by either 2007 or when 85% of TVs are digital, whichever comes last...
What would this do to markets like Kansas City, where TV and radio stations are heard across four states? Would it not be a challenge to get each of these four state governments to come to a decent agreement about the spectrum in question? If one of the states wouldn't authorize the frequency needed by a station, then how exactly do you expect to keep it out?
I've had to underclock a few computers before so they didn't overheat or undergo other weird problems. Not to mention that underclocking notebook computers can often save precious battery power.

Yes, it's fully compatible. :)
I haven't tried it personally, but there have been many UTF-8 bugfixes in 3.0. You might want to give it a try.

Yes, I definitely hurl when I think of fruitcake. And Christmas music.

Did you plug in the computer, eh? What aboot the power button, eh, did you push it?
Did they follow proper disclosure procedures and report the backdoor to the Canadian government before submitting it to Slashdot?

Or just wait until later this year when Nintendo's DS comes out with wifi and a Bluetooth-like proprietary short-range network protocol.
Voice recognition... like Mario Party 6? Or, a bit farther back, Hey You, Pikachu?
The "crippleware" part of the source is not in the source package that is downloadable. Therein lies the problem...
How do you boot from a DOS boot disk if you can't boot from anything but the hard drive?
I refuse to consider you a fellow geek if you suggest getting out of the house.
