I mean, you can't use an old gfx card to run DX9 and expect it to run faster, why expect that the current gfx cards to do DX10 faster?
Eventhough they might be able to handle all DX10's new features, I doubt DX10 will ever be "as fast" as DX9 on current generation of gfx cards.

You read too much/. , I got Windows installations from back in 2000 and they all work just fine. I got a Windows machine with 3 years uptime. Any machine is as secure as its admin or user.
As for XP/Vista, just don't run as admin and u'll be fine.
Try allowing 80% of the world to run as root on linux, and we'll see how well linux will do.
If you are going to compare, atleast run them both as root, don't be biased.
