All the brown nosing commments are getting good marks while constructive criticism is shot down as flame bait. I agree that if you are going to put all that work on the backend of the web site (the code), you might as well improve the GUI too. While we are on the topic of improving the site, how about putting in a spell checker?
It sounds like Xandros, with the help of Linspire, could really give Microsoft a run for its money. As Linux becomes more easy to use, I think it is more likely that Linux will take market share away from Windows than Mac. Why buy a new computer for a new OS when you can install a new OS on the computer you already have?
If all the old gummers who can't even operate a type writer are going to accuse us of being a throw away society, we might as well live up to that reputation.
Perhaps now would be a good time for me to consider switching to another top level domain? This is going to suck for people like me who run a Web site just for fun and not making any money off it.
There are already services that let you view movies online. If I am going to pay full price for a movie, I want the physical media that I can hold. Considering how cheap Wal-mart DVDs are, they better offer dirt cheap prices on this service if they expect to succeed.
I can't believe this was modded as insightful. That same remark could have been made about the cable connections we run today. When you combine online gaming, VoIP, and streaming TV, etc you suddenly realize that there will be a need for connections like that without throwing piracy in the mix. Saying that piracy is the only reason for such a connection is arrogant. That's like someone saying the only reason you would want a gun is to commit a crime.
That is why you unplug the computer while you install Windows and security programs. Have that stuff burned to CD or on a back up hard drive. You really don't want to be online right after a fresh install of Windows. I don't have my computer online until I have installed service pack 2, Anti-Virus, and Spybot.
Just another reason for me not to allow comments on my BLog. I really don't need some scumbag spammer trying to pitch their product on my BLog. I look forward to the day when the patriot act allows us to throw spammers in camp Gitmo. Oh wait, that would be too merciful. How about we just declare them an enemy of the state and shoot them on site.
Irrelevant. The point is who should get the money. Peter Jackson has every right to demand every penny he was promised in the contract. The problem is people will take a look at how much he already has and dismiss him as being greedy. Why not look past our own jealousy and stand up for what is right not what a twisted version of fair is.
I guess you didn't see how Mr. Ebbers or the founder of Aldephia are facing prison time. Quit trying to spread that liberal lie that white collar crime pays off. By the way, it is inappropiate to refer to blacks as niggers. Grow up and learn to be a little more tolerant of diversity.
I work for a public broadcasting station. The main reason we stick with Windows 2000 is money or rather lack of. I am pretty sure we don't have software assurance. Even with a discount, upgrading 200+ computers is not cheap.
The second reason is this station has been burned with upgrades before. Legacy programs wouldn't work. Now that we have had Windows 2000 long enough to get everything to work, we hesitate to upgrade to XP. It is the whole "why replace it if it works" mentality. Even when I got my new cheap celeron computer, they IS dept took of XP Pro and put Windows 2000 on it to avoid network compatibility problems.
A third reason is Windows 2000 isn't the resource hog at XP is. Even on my new celeron computer with just onboard graphics, Windows 2000 runs really fast. At work, you really don't need eye candy. We are still running some computers that could not handle XP.
According to Microsoft trustworthy computing, DRM and security are the same thing. I call BS.

I might give a damn about the product if they strip the activation "feature." If not, I am sticking with Open Office 2.

Whoops! I didn't see the date on the bottom, and it was new to me. Zonk missed that too.
I like to listen to DJ Magic Mike with this thing! Not to mention video games would be so cool with this.

If we are going to switch to a new DVD format, let's make the switch worthwhile. HD DVD is just a half ass attempt.

Idiots! The first rule of DRM circumvention is don't talk about DRM.... ahh nevermind.
How easy will it be for us clumbsy people to damage the data?
Will this method of data storage be used by terrorists?
How many illegal ways will this be used?
I don't see a whole lot of positive things about this invention.

The topic of this is discussion is Peter Jackson and his lawsuit. How about staying on topic?

By the time the government comes up with a half ass solution, archive.org will already have it all organized, online, indexed, and backed up.

Even for free, I won't watch their left leaning biased as hell enemy sympathizing stories.
>2. Periodically change your CPU architecture But then they would be accused of copying Apple again.

That pretty much sums it up.
I wonder what other words they will censor....Linux...Open source.....
Just another cost of doing business. Put it down in the books as a business expense for a tax write off.
I am guessing that IE 7 will be a XP release only. If that is true, I guess they don't care if Windows 2000/98 users switch to Firefox.
Firefox = no user left behind.
