  1. I Have Seen This on Excursions at the Speed of Light · · Score: 3, Funny

This is what I see when I sprint to an all you can eat buffet after someone else has offered to pay. I have been called many things, but late for dinner is not one of them.

  2. What They Need To Do on Microsoft Reverses Stand on Discrimination Bill · · Score: 1

They need to concentrate on legislation that affects them. Going on these feel good campaigns will only get them into trouble, and as far as social issues, will only anger a bunch of people no matter what stance they take.

  3. So Now on Google Web Accelerator · · Score: 1

People who are paying a premium to their dial up ISP for this feature can now get it free from Google and save a few bucks every year. Nice.

  8. I Noticed Too on Providers Ignoring DNS TTL? · · Score: 4, Insightful

It kind of defeats the point of root DNS servers being updated so fast if the ISPs are going to drag their feet and take their time updating their cache. I speculate it is server admin laziness.

  9. Many Small ISPs A Good Thing on Music Industry Drafts Code of Conduct for ISPs · · Score: 2, Insightful

This makes me appreciate the fact I can get broadband access from a small local ISP (Internet Nebraska) rather than just a corporate ISP. People have said how they will not sign up with any ISP that goes along with this code of conduct agreement, but imagine how limited your choice will be if companies keep getting bought out or merge. Support your local ISPs and sign up with them.

  10. 2 Alternatives That Work Now on Microsoft Uncertain About WinFS for XP · · Score: 2, Insightful

If you want a better way to find your files now, just use Google's free desktop search tool, or do a better job of keeping your files organized. I prefer the latter.

Open source != free. It just means you provide the source code when you sell/give away your software, and you don't have a cow if the end user modifies the code. That's why we say free as in free speech not free beer.

For those of you who don't code, != is C code for does not equate to.

  17. Start Here on Succeeding With Open Source · · Score: 5, Informative

This may be an overly simplisitc way of looking at this, but my answer is this. Start by making sure open source software will do what you want. If it doesn't, then stick with the propietary stuff.

So it is more accurate. That is fine, but the optical mouse seems pretty accurate. The only thing I do not like is the weird quark all optical mice have. When you move the, mouse the cursor will go shooting off in the opposite direction. It is very annoying. It does not happen all the time, but it is still annoying.

People should not post just what they think the mods want to hear. However as a meta-moderator I do not appreciate that quip about mods, and therefore you deserve the troll tag. Wear it proudly. You earned it.
