I assume if one use Ubuntu, Mint, Debian, Redhat or OpenSUSE chances are decent that it works, most so with Ubuntu, but also if Steam become a major title on those OSes maybe they'd take greater care in not breaking it.
And yet right now, on Windows, the SF5 beta is crashing for me. There's even less I can do because there are no messages at all.
Worse, Ultra Street Fighter 4 randomly crashes out on me. No errors, no messages. Just up and vanishes mid-game. Other games give me, occasionally, random crash dialogs. So I doubt the troubleshooting situation can truly be worse on Linux.
Maybe the problem is your computer (or drivers which isn't MicrosoftÂs and the game developers fault but rather say AMDÂs?)
If games crashes for you fix what's broken. Shitty graphics card? Memory module?
Close to no-one get their 1600-3500 kcal or whatever from eating sallad.
Say you ate 500 gram of sallad per day for a total of 75 kcal, even at three times worse than bacon and all the rest of your intake being bacon that would be 2.14-4.7% of your intake and hence around 10% of your GHG production from your diet. Maybe it would increase it by 7% or whatever but you also ate 500 gram of sallad and sallad would likely be good for you especially since all the rest you ate was bacon so..:D

The thing is that using SteamOS is likely more intimidating than using Steam in Windows. You can still enter full-screen mode and you know the OS and it perform better and many more games work.
Only advantage for the user of SteamOS is that it load straight into full-screen mode but that could easily had been solved with Windows too - I guess.
Even if you're only going to play games one could even say Windows 10 is worth paying for due to the better performance and MUCH bigger game library. Also there's of course ways around that issue.
Personally I have mixed feelings about Steam. I think it seem retarded to add games I could play the DRM-free copy for free of when I have paid for the key and don't really need it. But I do so anyway but I have a hard time justifying it. I purchase lots of games (likely bought like 1 400 steam keys) and playing the DRM-free copies and reselling the Steam keys would had saved me some money (I have no idea what I've spent but I guess it could be $1 000 or more than that too.)
