reminds me of one of George Carlin's CD's where he made fun of advertisements. the cd was "A Place For My Stuff" "And the newest x-rated sport from california, ROLLERFUCKING!"
somehow, I think the NX feature was a lost cause, all virus writers have to do now is use their code to infect all the programs in a different way, and make the infected programs run in the dead zone of memory, bam, your windows install is 10 times more fucked than virii created before the NX fix. and this time, it'd be impossible to run windows.
I dont think this will fix much, just give the user a false sense of security, forcing people off the older systems since all new programs will be written to only work with XP with SP2. Thus Microsoft gains money. I hate to sound like an anti-microsoft troll, but it just looks like M$ pulling something "for the welfare of its users" to only tighten their grasp on the common user. Looking at the "Security" they're adding, looks like things that shoulda be added a while back, and will only be exploited days after release, with possible nastier exploits.
they need to add in a new requirement and it should be thos who want jobs controlling the spending of schools need degrees in marketing and business and stuff like that.
basically, get taught how to run a business, and the apply that to the school system, except you dont make money like you would normally, but control how you spend it to make the "business" work
honestly, that would help the school system out a lot more.
didnt know you could get sued for stating the obvious these days.
or getting sued over pointing out the truth.
wait, yes I did, that's right everyone sues someone else to hush them up or to ruin their life or to a little more cash here and there..
the man in brazil is correct bout m$, they are like a drug dealer, they spread their product, and lock in customers, and stifle all competition and innovation using unfair and illegal methods.
In this case, innovation could be compared to someone cleaning up a community, which would be a hazard for a drug dealer, so the drug dealer gets friends to kill who ever tries to make the area better and make it work for them again, so their business model isnt threatened, such as how manycompanies and linux try to make innovations and bette ralternatives to windows, microsoft goes at the mand makest he market hostile for them and plays unfair because they believe they shouldnt have competition.
Unfair and illegal methods could be compared to dealer killing off anyone who sells another kind of drug, in "their territory" or those who dare offer a way for people to stop using a drug the dealer sells. (such as them using lies and propagnda, lawsuits, slander, copyrights, etc to attack linux and all opposing forces.)
So the man is correct, and he could so use that in court, too bad he doesnt read/. but I imagine him and his attornies already thought of how to back that. But he is correct, and he pointed out ag ood anology that describes microsoft. and it pisses them off because it's going to threaten their dominance and status among another 3rd world nation that they want to con for all its worth.
why else would someone make a game about monsters invading earth from hell, and the humans in the game fled to space, and makes rockets that try to make it to space?
tell us something that isnt new with the US public school system.
Thing is, the people who run the school system are not good with managing money. this is proven fact, the dont look into the best priced software, or hardware, or anything. it's whoever treats them to the best lunch.
I dont think people accepted it as they prolly didnt know about it until they bought it. then were like "oh shit, wtf is this? oh well, I bought it and brought it home"
oh and not to mention, cd sales dont count returns IIRC.
well it might be sold separately, but once installed, how hard will it be to remove, if it can be removed, and will removing it purposely open your system up to many vulerabilities?
and what's stopping them from putting it in longhorn? or a window release before longhorn (say if they pull a windows ME with windows XP)
you must remember, the us government isnt just one group of people, it's split into many many sectors. and believe it or not, some sectors still hold interest of the public. and would do things like this to make things better.
it's just the bigger, more commonly heard groups of the government we hear about that are corrupt, etc.
In all honesty, and not trolling here, who here thinks this technology will never pick up due to sony copyrighting it and charging outrageous fees to ensure no-one, except them, can use it.
I hardly see this as an "in" thing over copy/paste.
at least copy/paste is free, or if it does have a patent, no-one's bitching, or has claimed it as theirs yet *shifts eyes at microsoft holding a plate of technologies and munching down on them hungrily*
meh this is why I'm not allowed in the geek circles at school, I tell these people that cpu speed in MHZ doesnt count, and it's how it performs the tasks and how efficient it does it that counts, they call me a dumbass because "cpu speed makes it more efficient, dumbass!"
also, they think windows is the most superior OS ever, and bill gates is the inventor of the modern computer, etc and that he has the highest IQ in the world.
well, a good idea for a desktop system with average joe blow who thinks deleting a buncha files is the best way to uninstall some shit, (often run into that with broken windows systems) so if they wanna suddenly be mr. computer expert with their son's computer, they wont completely fuck it up.
I've actually thought about this, I'll create a lockbox that will be only available to my mom after my death, having her execute a script that will backup anything important and destroy the rest, and send out mails and messages to all who know me
latest crap I wouldnt buy in a million years, except for a friend.
but never for myself, I hate most modern music because it all sounds the same, just variants of pop.
the industry is trying to make punk all pop-like now with avril lavigne, all the rock sounds like pop,rap is becoming more like hip-hop pop, etc
we need selection, not something that sounds like someone else. I hear like 5 different songs by 5 different female vocalists, and they all sound like Britney Spears. it's annoying.
The industry needs to remember who its serving. and stop trying to make music conform and kill off all non-conforming music.
Josie and the Pussycats is a great movie to show how the industry thinks. might be exaggerated somewhat, but it gives the general message.
anyways, another major question, What about us who DONT burn music? but burn cd's for backup files, and put linux systems on them, etc?
oh wait, that would be ok because it would benefit microsoft, who's technologies are used by the RIAA.
if CoH is online multiplayer.. why not just set up a box with the damn game and have her play as well?
I know my significant other would, well, she'd prolly have me play Ragnarok Online with her. (she's the gaming nut, I'm a casual gamer, play only when I'm bored.)
whatever happened to that project that used de-polymerazation (sp?) to basically turn trash (mostly organic, and anything carbon based, such as plastics, or biological wastes) into oil and gasoline? and would filter out any other biproducts?
now if they could do the process with biodiesel and make biogasoline out of it, that would be better, that would mean me and my friend would have a good source of our own gasoline for our bikes.
looking at that article, it sounds like bill gates has his hand controlling SUN's COO
Sun sold their souls, get used to it.
The whole "sell software, cheaply made, easily lost ssoftware that the consumer has to pay for if any damages occur to it" approach has always been Microsoft's. it should be the other way around since hardware often costs more, and takes a lot of cash to produce, software can cost money to produce as well, but the fact that hardware is something you have physically garaunteed to work, because it's there and you can see it for the most part, meanwhil,e with software, it can often appear to be working, but it could have really bad holes in it and do a lot of things the consumer may not se or want. issues with hardware can be physically resolves easily, however, with closed proprietary software, something happens because of a bug, or because of a feature a user doesnt want, they cant replace it, they have to sit and wait until whenever the vendor of the software feels like making the change. at least with hardware, if you have a buggy sound card, or one that doesnt sound good, you can take it back and get a working one or one that's better. if the software's buggy, all copies of it will be as well. and there's nothing you can do about it.
Sounds like a big fighting title match... I can see it now..
*Brown throws a punch, and his fist gets entangled in stallman's beard, stallman corrects him on everything and uses logic on him for 45 minutes as he tried to get his hand free, finally gets it out, tries to commit suicide after all the ramblings, but then is told he needs to correct his noose, the guy wigs out, goes after stallman again, and stallman bodyslams brown, taking out brown in an instant.
well, actually, the canadian government backs the US when it comes to spying on its own citizens.
information gets shared, etc..
just because your government isnt the US government, doesnt mean they arent still mostly the same way.
all governments have their dirty secrets, and all politicians always think the same way. sadly.
so canada isnt any better, just less likely to get mugged in the middle of the night because you said something in a chatroom someone in the FBI didnt like.

I'd be holding the surfboard so I can get some classic pics of the meter maids in gold coast.

quick, time to get your BFG's

I've used SCO openserver before, it was on some servers that were brought into the computer repair class.
it sucked.. majorly, though one redeeming feature is that they had X11 automatically run when you went into tty2, and console mode in tty1
interesting, but useless.

the anus of the president of marketing for verizon?
maybe that's why I saw him walking funny,
and the little man roaming around town lost.

This sounds more like a development environment than an actual desktop. or an environment for certain business tools, but mostly for development.
I dont see this as being the next major winning desktop for the avereage joe.
