    Same experience here - had an 80GB Maxtor - failed a year after purchase, got replaced under warranty, replacement failed again in a few month - couldn't be bothered anymore.

    Switched to a Lacie FW drive now (what do they have inside?). And a Western Digital 20GB that came built into something is running 4 years straight with no problems (fingers crossed).

    Maxtor does seem to have a very poor reliability record - look around at other comments and reviews.

    This is exactly why the multicolored bills are needed - the problem of $02 dollar bills has simply become too big.

    Before anyone gets confused, the google toolbar stores your past searches locally (it does NOT access the google database - if it did it would be fun to reverse engineer :). By the way the same thing is built into safari (with less features) but same logic.

    Yes - kind-of, I guess it's more cookie + ip based. And "Google Tracking Frequent Users" is a bit inaccurate as a title - google tracks all users (how else would they know when you have become a frequent user?) they are just displaying some of the information they gather to the frequent users (they can just as easily display it for all users since it's there anyway).

    Which begs the question - how is this news except that google is finally visibly using some of the information they gather to display it to the users?

    I'll take that bet, and remind you of the RIAA commercials they keep on flashing during news reports on this with Britney, Christina, etc. saying that 'stealing music is wrong' (and apparently some of the stuff she had was by Christina - BBC news)

    I'm sorry to disillusion you, but most of the 'artists' are there purely for the money.

    Don't worry, this won't last long - we all know what happens to countries who spend too much on military R&D. And once it's over all the good scientists will be able to go to a non totalitarian country and carry on their non military research (for a while).

    And in my great coutry I get to pirate music (ohhh, and believe me not just music :) without fear of prosecution, while the drop in sales because of this means that companies charge more - which YOU and your kids pay in your great coutry.

    Since they paid for Kazaa (or was it just the ISP connection?) and seem to be not too computer literate, chances are when she was setting up Kazaa (c'mon all you 'parent's responsibility' people - chances are a 12 year old girl is more interested in music than her single mom) she entered her real name - so RIAA has the address + mom's name from ISP + the girl's name as the actual sharer.

    All the people arguing that she is in the wrong here - is RIAA paying people to argue their point in places like this to sway opinion / show public support?

    Their sugar production could be very lucrative if this takes off.

    What does RIAA think about this? If you look at how many people buy the 15,000 song iPods - have as many people bought 15,000 songs, at a cost of around $15,000 (taking the price from, say, from the iTunes music store)?

    More importantly, will RIAA now subpoena the list of people who bought the large iPods to prosecute them?
