I have bronchitis and I don't smoke, my girlfriend however does. And don't give me that polluted air crap. I live outside of a big city with very clean air. So, you tell me how I got it.
Fluorescent zebra fish were specially bred to help detect environmental pollutants. By adding a natural fluorescence gene to the fish, scientists are able to quickly and easily determine when our waterways are contaminated. The first step in developing these pollution detecting fish was to create fish that would be fluorescent all the time. It was only recently that scientists realized the public's interest in sharing the benefits of this research. We call this the GloFish(TM) fluorescent fish.
How common is the use of fluorescent zebra fish in science?
For over a decade, fluorescent zebra fish have been relied upon by scientists worldwide to better understand important questions in genetics, molecular biology, and vertebrate development. Fluorescent zebra fish have been particularly helpful in understanding cellular disease and development, as well as cancer and gene therapy.
What are the differences between fluorescent zebra fish and other zebra fish?
Aside from their brilliant color, fluorescent zebra fish are the same as other zebra fish in every way. This includes everything from general care and temperature preferences to growth rate and life expectancy.
Do fluorescent fish glow?
Fluorescent fish absorb light and then re-emit it. This creates the perception that they are glowing, particularly when shining an ultraviolet light on the fish in a dark room.
Does the fluorescence harm the fish?
No. The fish are as healthy as other zebra fish in every way. Scientists breed them by adding a natural fluorescence gene to the fish eggs before they hatch. The fish is born with this unique color, and maintains the color throughout its life. The color is also passed on to their offspring.
What will happen if a fluorescent zebra fish escapes into the waterways?
Zebra fish are tropical fish and are unable to survive in non-tropical environments. They have been sold to pet owners worldwide for more than fifty years. Despite all these years of aquarium ownership, zebra fish are only found in tropical environments, such as their native India .
What if a fluorescent zebra fish is eaten?
Eating a fluorescent zebra fish is the same as eating any other zebra fish. Their fluorescence is derived from a naturally occurring gene and is completely safe for the environment. Just as eating a blue fish would not turn a predator blue, eating a fluorescent fish would not make a predator fluoresce.
Are you going to create more fluorescent fish?
Scientists all around the world are working with fluorescent fish, whether it's to help protect the environment or come up with new disease-fighting drug therapies. As more fluorescent fish become available, they may be offered for sale to the public.
How can buying these fish help in the fight against pollution?
These fish have already existed for several years and were developed to help fight pollution. By breeding these existing fish, we will allow people to have their own fluorescent fish while promoting the beneficial scientific goals behind their development. In fact, a portion of the proceeds from sales will go directly to the lab where these fish were created in order to further their research--research we hope will help to protect the environment and save lives.
Why are GloFish(TM) the only fluorescent fish that can be sold in the United States ?
Because fluorescent fish are unique, their sale is covered by a substantial number of patents and pending patent applications. The providers of GloFish(TM) fluorescent fish, 5-D Tropical and Segrest Farms, are the only distributors that have the necessary licenses to produce and market fluorescent fish within the United States . The production of fluorescent fish by any other party, or the sale of any fluorescent fish not originally distributed by 5-D Tropical or Segrest Farms, is strictly prohibited.
If I order a 12 oz. steak, I want that to be good to the last gib. Hey maybe you should order the little 7 oz. to suit your needs, obviously you don't need as much. Maybe if we can work the price of a 7 ouncer into games.......nah they'll never go for that.
Earthbound was the Family Guy of SNES RPGs, it didn't do well until people found out about ROMS. Then everyone was like "Hey what did we miss?" Only the best RPG ever.
I don't know about you guys, but I would much rather have kids pretending to kill someone, and explain to them that's it's just pretend, like bible stories, then to have them actually dancing around like a fag.
No way, I wouldn't say that they have no connection. I started hurting people as soon as I started playing video games. Ah, good ol' Joust. I loved impaling people with my stick, it was great fun. Then came Kung Fu for the NES, my violence love was rekindled, I learned all the Kung Fu I could just to hurt people. My next love was Mortal Kombat, ah I remember the first time I ripped out someone's heart, I had ever so much fun. My following desire was of course GTA3, wow, it taught me new ways of murdering people I would have never thought on my own, I worship that game, I hope no one ever try to part me from it, I'll only have to blow them apart limb from limb a'la Soldier of Fortune.
You guys have best buys up there right?? I believe they have a deal where if you buy something from them, and within 30 days the price drops, they'll credit you the difference.
"Why do people seem to have the obsession that Nintendo must have the #1 selling console, or that this should even be Nintendo's goal?"
No way, as soon as anyone stops trying to be the best, quality starts to drop.
"I don't see the local flower shop strategizing over how to overtake all of their competitors and rise to the top flower distributor in the nation."
Big difference there. Flower shops really don't sell unique products. Just advice and whatever plants can live in their area. Nintendo, has to try and be innovative yet competitive at the same time. If they sold products in which anyone else can sell, I would see your point.
I don't find that strange. They seemed to part on good terms. Besides, if these titles were for a release on a hand-held system, where else are they going to go? Sega?(dead) Microsoft?(nothing) Sony?(not soon enough) Nokia(too risky). You really only have one choice to go with handheld games, and that's the GBA, baby. Who knows, maybe Rare noticed the decline in Cube sales, and got out when they could, while GBA sales are through the roof so they worked out a way to still develop for that. Of course I may know nothing at all.
"New teachers are probably already nervous enough without knowing there is a camera watching them."
Yeah, it'll be a real shame to have them feel safe, they only bad side to this will be the media having access to the footage when some teacher gets stabbed or shot. Then again, that's not that bad of a thing. Imagine be able to catch odd behavior in students which the teacher may not see. This is a good tool to divert the whole babysitting aspect of public schools and let the teacher focus on teaching!!!
I have a problem, a lot of my users work in remote offices which I can't touch. I don't trust all of them to apply patches on their own, I'm not quite sure what I'm gonna go about this. Hell, it's hard enough to have people actually read the e-mails we send out in the first place. Any suggestions?
"I haven't been suckered into using the Internet to do my banking and pay my bills. I never will"
Yes, who wants to make their lives easier, by not having to deal with getting in your car to buy stamps, or calling some dumb phone support schlub everytime you need to check your account or pay those bills.
"Xbox and PS2 can break the limit of 1 per household because they can run Linux (ie become a family or personal PC) and because they have networked games."
Cause we all know that most people/families who play games would love to run Linux on their console. What percentage of console owners actually run Linux??? Honestly... not just people on this site.
No, cause you'll occasionally run into someone like me who's been scarred by laptops, ever since fixing them for other people (work). Which in turn makes me tend to shy away from most laptops. Anything worthwhile is a bit out of my price range (anything other than free).
I have to say it's dying. The peak of the series was FF5, 6, and 7. After that, the quality of the games started to fall, drastically. I'm sure this is getting repetitive, but IX was their attempt to go "old school" but it felt too cartoonish. Of course X was the playable movie. Now, XI is an online version, which could have broken the series if not for the news of XII. I'm sure, many people want to play XI, but lots of fans like myself were pissed, we don't want the series to suffer because Square wants to join in on the money grubbing pay per month online crap. We'll I'm ending this post here, before I go off on a rant, which I'm sure most people do not want to read.
Contra 1 - 3. One bullet and p-tayywwn. C'MON!!! It hit me in the FOOT for Christ sakes!!!!
Like Miami???
I have bronchitis and I don't smoke, my girlfriend however does. And don't give me that polluted air crap. I live outside of a big city with very clean air. So, you tell me how I got it.
Just send them a blank reply e-mail, or unsubscribe in the body of the message, and you''ll get no more.
Guess kids will never get to see Pokemon Snap 2.
1. Charge people for an "early review"
2. Review a game that's released on all three consoles. Copy, Paste, edit Xbox-PS2-Cube.
3. Profit!!!

I'm sure Nokia is somehow behind this. I mean if they couldn't sell it with games, or discounts, why not push it for emulation?

You know the sad thing is you knew it was from an episode of Friends. I would've never known.
Have there actually been other books about comic books, I must be out of the loop on this one.

Mandatory Nintendo needs to drop "kiddy image" comments in 3....2....1....
