    Its all vaporware, remember a couple years ago some dot com geniuses had linux running on a head of lettuce? Yeah, its a great idea and the best thing ever but the costs of bringing it to market proved too difficult and economically unfeasible.

    I honestly had never heard of a canned meat named spam until a year and a half ago

    And that is the problem with the argument, people are so self-centric it doesn't occur to them that Hormel has been using "spam" (SPiced hAM) since the 1930's, which I think predates all unsolicited email (for the exception of p3n1$ en1@rg3m3n+ emails, which predates everything).

    Welcome to Government 101 - there IS a difference between being a chairmen of a government committee/caucus and proposing/pushing a bill towards becoming a law.

    Shockingly, less then half of the television reports and updates concerning Foley (that I saw anyway) mention his involvement with the Caucus - the media, as it tends to do, has focused on the content of the messages Foley sent (sex, including deviant sex, sells) and how the Republican leadership has handled the situation.

    Transparency has many definitions, please review and note differences between computing, business, material, etc.

    And who mentioned anything about invisible? or it being an absolute? I think you're seeing words that aren't there.

    I believe accountability leads to transparency and vice-versa. The word transparency in this case doesn't mean invisible, it means the full, accurate, and timely disclosure of information. Which can be accomplished, although not always easily.

    Has IBM used it's political influence, lobbyist, or worked with the government in any way to reform the structure from the inside? Or are they taking a holier then thou approach that could (most likely) lead to them losing their competitive edge by announcing to it's competitors what's in the hopper (so to speak)?

    Right on, its about market share and nothing more. I'm surprise more vendors are bending over backwards to get a shot on the growing Chinese markets. Not that I'm a communist, but I could definity see a communist country embracing the open standards Linux offers to build the infrastructure for tomorrow's technology landscape. When Chinese users without the dispospal income of Westerns want a home PC I wonder which "free" OS might fill the need?

    I know the DoD, CIA, NSA, etc pad communications to prevent certain inference attacks, when I posted this I was almost certain there is a project out on SourceForge for just this purpose but I couldn't find one.

    Everytime they make a new rule, the people who don't follow the rules will one-up them. Encryption, padding traffic, etc will futher make it harder for the good guys to chase the bad guys and what do they get for their trouble? A paranoid public who thinks they're being snooped by the government.
