Cry me a river. Chalk on tires blows off as soon as you drive away. And post a citation of the law you claim it violates (its not vandalism if it doesn't even stay on). If you care so much about your car, don't park it on the street. What are you going to do when someone drives by a little too close and knocks the mirror off, which I've seen happen to MANY parked cars on streets? Its not like the driver who did it is going to leave you a note or anything.
From a statistical point of view, I'd say that's true. Afterall, you would be exposed to your own gun for many more hours than someone else's gun, so in all likelyhood if you were to be accidentally shot it would be from the gun you are most exposed to.
That being said, many gun control advocates take statistics like this and spin them into anti-gun propaganda when they really aren't. Think about it, does this really mean that you're safer without a gun? What is your overall chance of death both with and without a gun of your own? That is the part that the gun banners don't want you to think about. They just want a quick soundbite for their propaganda campaign.
Gun enthusiasts don't oppose safety; they oppose stupid politicians making laws about things they don't understand. Anyone who thinks a trigger lock law will make guns magically safe is ignorant to say the least. When politicians pass gun laws, the results are similar to what happens when they regulate technology. They don't understand it and don't understand the implications. Look at some of the idiot laws about copyrights, spamming, DRM, etc. The same thing happens regarding firearms, and just about anything else for that matter.
On a smaller scale, Chicago has had this problem for decades. Private ownership of firearms is almost completely illegal within the city, yet gun crime is common. Every time there is a high profile murder, the same idiots call for yet more gun laws. How much more illegal can guns be, yet they are still easy for criminals to get. I'd love to know what's inside the head of those people who think that banning guns will just make them go away.
Reread your post and see who the asshole is. Just because you have not personally experienced something does not make it impossible. And for the record, I have given homeless people my leftover food from a restaurant, only to see it thrown away when they thought I was out of sight. While I think its definitely a good idea to provide help to the homeless, there are many who truly choose their lifestyle, or at the very least will make no effort to do better for themselves.
Student athletes are treated no differently than children. They have a curfew, someone monitors their homework, and generally keeps them out of trouble. It's really not a huge step to control what they publish online, considering all the other crap they have to go through. Then again, getting to go to school for free plus all the side benefits from the booster clubs isn't bad compensation for doing what you're good at. I doubt there will be too many complaints once the initial implementation is over.
American roads are deliberately built with inferior materials so they wear out quicker and hence create more unionized construction jobs. There is a huge amount of money in highway construction, and a huge number of people who will make sure it stays that way.
If I have to subsidize phone service for rural communities, many of which are wealthy, then they should have to subsidize my inner city rent, parking, and other high living expenses. I say let each person pay their own living costs. If you live in a city you pay high rent but get cheap phone service. In a rural area you can buy an acre of land for a couple thousand dollars but you pay $100 a month for a basic phone. Anything else is just welfare.
The "I was following orders" defense didn't work at Nuremburg and it won't work here. If you are required by company policy to be an asshole, you're still an asshole. Get shitty with me on the phone and I'll throw it right back at you, company policy or not. Your lame ass attempts to defend these losers only show that you have no spine whatsoever and will support anyone in any situation as long as they claim they needed to do something to make money. What about people who sell drugs to kids for a living? Hey at least they're providing a wanted product. If I, a paying customer, tell you to give me something that I am entitled to have and you refuse, you're god damn right I'm going to scream at you. If you don't like it tough shit, grow some fucking balls already and get a respectable job, pussy!
There's your problem. Well qualified professionals don't go to craigslist to look for jobs. Most of the jobs you see on craigslist are crap jobs with shady companies, so serious jobseekers go elsewhere. During my recent job search I quickly stopped looking at craigslist when I saw mostly ads wanting someone to completely run an office for about $24,000 a year. Advertise the job on monster or Dice and you'll get some good resumes. I know it costs money unlike craigslist, but if you can afford to hire someone you can afford to buy an ad.
So somebody pleads guilty to an offense they don't completely understand, without a lawyer, and gets fucked. This happens all the time and has nothing in particular to do with sex offender legislation. That was the guy's problem. This is the same way people get sent to state prison for marijuana possession. Is this fair? No. But that's the way its always been and will always be, in the U.S. or anywhere. No justice system is kind to people without lawyers.
Regarding sex offenders, I was originally addressing the ones who actually victimized someone. The issue of sex offender legislation being used to prosecute non-sex offenses, like public urination, is something seperate which I totally disagree with. As to real sex offenders, who targeted an actual victim, burn them at the stake. And if someone is prosecuted simply for being a homosexual under some archaic sodomy law, the ACLU will file suit so fast the law will be pulled from the books in an emergency congressional session.
Just wait 3 months until someone finds a crack, then buy one that lets you be in control of your own products. There has never been an unbreakable DRM scheme and there never will be, until we all have digital eye and ear implants.
To make it truly authentic, you'd have to make the page take an hour to load, with a counter on the screen telling the user which place they are in line to see the page.
There's a certain amount of progression that keeps the show interesting, and a certain amount that ruins it. For example, would we really want to see a teenage Bart, or college student Lisa? I think that would ruin the show. Especially since these characters would be too hard to replace. Thank God the writers realize this, or the Simpsons would go the way of Saved By The Bell.
How many Comcast customers even know what IPv6 is, much less want to use it? That explains why they don't care. Hell, I don't care and I do know what it is. The great myth of the IP address shortage is about as scary as Y2K.
Even if this is true, Chinese people have more freedom now than they did 20 years ago, and things will continue to progress in this direction. Government crackdows are getting harder to pull off, there is a lot of unpublished internal dissent, and the government is begging for a revolution if their response is to just crack down harder. Piss off 1 billion people alltogether, and its pretty hard to keep them contained.
If you think these ideas will really remove the Islamists desire for world domination, I can get you a great deal on some oceanfront property in Kansas.
There's no such thing as a supervisor in a call center. Not one that you'll be talking to, anyway. Ever notice they all say the same thing as the drone was saying? That's because they just pass the call off to the person next to them and take turns playing supervisor for each other. After inflicting enough verbal abuse to make them want to kill themselves (I'm just doing my job is NOT a defense), put your demands in writing and send them by certified mail. Teh company will have a hard time denying that you notified them when there is a written record.
Thanks for the info. Now I know that the way to handle call center monkeys is to talk them to death, repeat myself, make them repeat themselves, and stretch the call out to an hour. That will ruin their stats for the day and possibly get them fired. All the while, I won't give them the excuse of "verbal abuse" to hang up on me. Wow, this could be fun. I'll even start reading poetry to them.

Did you just say that Phili has excellent public transit?

Wow, this must be your first non-flamebait post ever?
Cool, I just found a Google search that describes you. Check it out.

At this rate, Sony is doing everything it can to make sure Blu-Ray loses. Betamax all over again.

They're just betting that the court and/or jury will believe that sex offenders are scum and deserve no rights, which I happen to agree with.
