Think about it, does this really mean that you're safer without a gun? What is your overall chance of death both with and without a gun of your own? Gun enthusiasts don't oppose safety; they oppose stupid politicians making laws about things they don't understand. Anyone who thinks a trigger lock law will make guns magically safe is ignorant to say the least. When politicians pass gun laws, the results are similar to what happens when they regulate technology. They don't understand it and don't understand the implications. Look at some of the idiot laws about copyrights, spamming, DRM, etc. The same thing happens regarding firearms, and just about anything else for that matter.
On a smaller scale, Chicago has had this problem for decades. Private ownership of firearms is almost completely illegal within the city, yet gun crime is common. Every time there is a high profile murder, the same idiots call for yet more gun laws. How much more illegal can guns be, yet they are still easy for criminals to get. I'd love to know what's inside the head of those people who think that banning guns will just make them go away.
Reread your post and see who the asshole is. Just because you have not personally experienced something does not make it impossible. And for the record, I have given homeless people my leftover food from a restaurant, only to see it thrown away when they thought I was out of sight. While I think its definitely a good idea to provide help to the homeless, there are many who truly choose their lifestyle, or at the very least will make no effort to do better for themselves.
Student athletes are treated no differently than children. They have a curfew, someone monitors their homework, and generally keeps them out of trouble. It's really not a huge step to control what they publish online, considering all the other crap they have to go through. Then again, getting to go to school for free plus all the side benefits from the booster clubs isn't bad compensation for doing what you're good at. I doubt there will be too many complaints once the initial implementation is over.
American roads are deliberately built with inferior materials so they wear out quicker and hence create more unionized construction jobs. There is a huge amount of money in highway construction, and a huge number of people who will make sure it stays that way.
If I have to subsidize phone service for rural communities, many of which are wealthy, then they should have to subsidize my inner city rent, parking, and other high living expenses. I say let each person pay their own living costs. If you live in a city you pay high rent but get cheap phone service. In a rural area you can buy an acre of land for a couple thousand dollars but you pay $100 a month for a basic phone. Anything else is just welfare.

Most of the jobs you see on craigslist are crap jobs with shady companies, so serious jobseekers go elsewhere. Advertise the job on monster or Dice and you'll get some good resumes. I know it costs money unlike craigslist, but if you can afford to hire someone you can afford to buy an ad.

The issue of sex offender legislation being used to prosecute non-sex offenses, like public urination, is something seperate which I totally disagree with. As to real sex offenders, who targeted an actual victim, burn them at the stake. And if someone is prosecuted simply for being a homosexual under some archaic sodomy law, the ACLU will file suit so fast the law will be pulled from the books in an emergency congressional session.

That's because they just pass the call off to the person next to them and take turns playing supervisor for each other. After inflicting enough verbal abuse to make them want to kill themselves (I'm just doing my job is NOT a defense), put your demands in writing and send them by certified mail. Teh company will have a hard time denying that you notified them when there is a written record.
