So there's a group of people in the gaming community who are just sub-human trash who don't give 1 shit about other people. Right, not exactly shocking given that community's history.
But what's really fucking stupid is that cops are fucking dumb enough to go in and actually murder people when what has been described to them (hostages, etc) is clearly not happening.
And people freaked out when Gillette politely asked men to be slightly better people.
The world isn't run by weapons anymore, or energy, or money, it's run by little ones and zeroes, little bits of data. It's all just electrons.
There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!
If you code, and your manager doesn't code, or if you admin and your manager's area of expertise is 'management' and not 'system administration' stop wasting time and just get out. It's not going to end well.
Honestly, who wants to go to a theatre? Dirty floors, uncomfortable seats, jerkass patrons, outrageous prices for food and tickets... My living room is 10x better than any theatre in town. The MPAA is as doomed as a dodo if they're spending their time making rules about electronics in theaters. Soon, movie releases will mean internet releases, and no DRM has yet been invented that wasn't eventually cracked, so they're going to have to figure out how to make money selling things other than content, and we all know how well they've been doing at that so far.
Keep doing useless things MPAA, you're dooming yourselves and I'll be happy to see you go.

I'm a small-time Mac admin with about 60 machines under my care. Apple Remote Desktop is a requirement. You NEED to have it. Another bit of advice is not to use Mac OS X Server for anything but Netbooting install and utilities images. It sucks at literally everything else. One of my big regrets is advocating an all-Mac approach at my place of employment. It worked out great for the employees, but the next time I'm going Linux and/or Windows for servers.
For Backup, Retrospect, Time Machine, and Carbon Copy Cloner have all served me well in different ways. It's also handy to have copies of Data Rescue and Disk Warrior around for those unhappy hard drives.
Oh, and for VPN, forget Apple's VPN daemon (which doesn't even work with Bonjour), go for ShareTool, it's amazing, and even non-technical people can be trained to use it effectively.
A Macbook looking subnotebook with that special rotating tablet hinge (done right, super durable), 6 to 10" touch sensitive 16:9 LCD , full range of ports (same as macbook), usable as a laptop or tablet, builtin bluetooth, wifi, gps, capable of using the iPhone for internet access, solid state hard drive, long life batteries... something like that.
One word: Anime. Japan's had better animated shows for years. If you want a funny, original, weird, and fun show, I'd suggest Kodomo no Omocha (Child's Toy). It seems to tickle the same centres of my brain that Family Guy does. Also, it's kinda a not-that-popular show, but American Dad (also by Seth McFarlane, Family Guy's creator) is actually really funny and well-written, and it's a lot more cohesive than Family Guy; there aren't any "side" jokes.
Me and a few friends once created a Quake1 mod that was specifically designed to help with making movies. To my knowledge it was only used one or two times, but we had a lot of fun making it. It used to reside here: http://www.inside3d.com/qmovie/ but the page has since been taken down. You can still see it in the various internet archives though, I'd imagine. I still have the source and all if anyone's interested in it...
As an aside, one of the other programmers on the project went on to create a fell remake of the Quake engine with a feature-length movie and TC to go with it. He also created ScummVM which some of us use to play old LucasArts games on various platforms...

Here's what I'm hoping for:
