are vegetarians, some such as whales live on krill and (sperm whale) squid. Man is an omnivore meaning we can eat most anything. The object I would think would be to eat better foods and to include plenty of fresh water. There are studies that include the foods eated after such instances as WW I. All the food animals were destroyed or eaten and for a few years only fresh grains, fruits and vegetables were available. Infant mortality dropped as well as general illnesses. once the food animals recovered and meat and dairy was available infant mortality and illness went back to the previous level. The book for this information and reference is titled "Survival into the 21st Century", I do not remember the author. Going from cold blooded protien to warm blooded protien is a step towards most sat-fat. I have had a lacto-ovo-pecto (dairy, mostly cheese, egg, fish) diet for 25 years and I feel pretty good, 48 and told I look early thirtys. To bad we have been pissing in the ocean for so long. A few questons here folks but first some support: A. Clarke is a great writer and visionary, you should read " A Fall of Moondust", great book. Back to the space elevator, there is no plural here, I would think there would have to be at least two of these fine contraptions BECAUSE of two words; MECHANICAL LIFTERS. What is the projected kph. to get "Up There"? What if someone needs to get down while everybody else is going UP(epecially with tourist)? There might be bulges in this sleek elevator such as medical emergency rooms, storage areas for keeping half of a payload waiting for replacement or improvement parts after it was discovered half the way up something is missing and maintinence crew living quarters. What kind of fuel will these lifter motor, piston, turbine, what ever be burning and how will they carry it or have it delivered. I think it is a great Idea created by a very talented man but unless NASA never plans on making any more mistakes we may just need two in case one is down for parts......"When I would make a mistake in shop class I would just put two grooves in it and call it an ashtray"..Bill Cosby

That statement could make some sense(though little) if a business owner was talking to his employees or a mob boss speaking speaking to his thugs but to 280 million citizens of a country that was founded on reveloution of ideas, ideals and a melting pot of people from all parts of the world? This should be a country of the statement, neither; for you or against you, our freedem of thinking should start with "Vote those very strange and frightening people out"

I remember that it takes two points to measure distance (and speed I assume). So if you have a stationary object such as an absolute zero state for an atomic particle in an atom then there is no two points to measure to find speed. Since a Point is a ficticious "thing" and atomic particles about as small as a reference there is. this cannot exist. Thanks for reading this. Annisette

I feel another reason the shuttle was built and so much money spent and a void in manned missions to the moon is the simple fact the military has no use for the moon(until the time comes)or science that has no practical use for them. They have had what they wanted and now hardly a ripple in the pond with bolder manned missions to deeper space. I agree with you, we(people owned NASA) can take a pay cut on designing a reusable reentry veichle and use the military space science results that were over spent to find and go back to the moon.
