At least the copyright shouldn't be transferable. Many copyright issues today depends on the fact that the owner of the copyright not necessarily is the creator.
Both having flight data recorders on the aircrafts and a data link could be done. However the bandwidth needed for a data link can limit the usefulness. Especially on transatlantic flights.
But the data recorders could be improved so that they do eject from the aircraft under certain conditions and equipped to be able to float to the surface for easier recovery.
The major problem is that it is often used in large meetings and large meetings are usually the least useful meetings. If you are lucky you will target 20% of the audience on average during the presentation. But the target floats in the audience so of course you will provide something to every part in the audience.
The problem is that 80% of the audience is idling during the parts that aren't for them.
Then it doesn't matter if you use a whiteboard, powerpoint or just have a speech from a script about the next five year plan.
They only need to raise an antenna for receiving. A buoy with an antenna in the middle of the pacific isn't that easy to spot - especially during the night. No need to surface.
And they don't necessarily need to receive the broadcast directly, but through proxy which in turn can do a low power transmission to the sub.
In any case - if this is just one channel it will only be needed in case other channels aren't usable.
Shortwave transmissions have the advantage of spreading long distances using relatively low power.
Then they just have to make it proofed against everything up to and including a sledgehammer.
But if you want to make sure that you aren't annoyed a few seconds in the microwave would take care of the problem.
The next thought is - can this be hacked? Probably, and now we will wait for those items to appear in pr0n magazines too. Just imagine what people will look like if the magazine stand starts to moan.
Even the Russians have nuclear submarines and a good guess would be that this is a way for them to provide information to their submarines and other naval vessels. During the Soviet era many commercial vessels also had some non-civilian personnel on board for various reasons and there is no reason to think that it has ceased completely.
And it's likely that it's just one channel of many that is used to communicate and control the operation of foreign activities. In the world of today it may not be a critical part but it's probably in use to make sure that it really works when it's needed.
And it is probably at the same time also a dead man's switch. However as long as other means of communications exists it is likely that the other end have their safeties in secure position. Right now the foreign political tension for Russia is mild. Unless you count some minor border conflicts in the south, but they are hardly worth a nuke.
If the law doesn't work then it's possible that the law is just wrong from the beginning.
One contributing factor here is the ability to transfer the copyright to a new owner. That means that the creator may get screwed over as well as people in general loses respect for the copyright since it's one fat corporation that's controlling it.
And the weird levels of penalties requested/applied for copyright violations compared to many other crimes makes people just ignore them more since it's so over the edge that they can as well go for heavier crimes and come out easier. Sometimes it's a less harsh sentence for dealing drugs than for copyright violations.
A more interesting question would be - have we had intelligent life before on Earth?
Just consider that intelligent life doesn't necessarily mean that there was technology involved. If the intelligence was used for a philosophical society or that the entities having intelligence didn't have hands then the development of tools would have been harder.
Provocative messages will sell more, and Wikileaks is provoking. Especially the US.
And Aftonbladet is a left wing tabloid press paper which means that they also like to annoy right wing people. And the US is from the European perspective (in most cases) a right-wing country.
Porn, provocation and popular politics sells! As soon as Wikileaks falls into obscurity he will have to look for some other source of income since the press won't be interested in his opinion anymore.
But there are several laws in Sweden that can protect him and his sources. If he can claim to be a journalist and publish stuff it's even illegal for the authorities to search for his sources. Doesn't matter what he do publish, it's illegal enough to have been problematic in the past for the career of policemen and politicians.
If a journalist on the other hand do publish something that's incorrect or exceeding the limits of journalistic morale the offended person can be filing a complaint at Pressens Opinionsnämnd, which can decide if the article was exceeding the moral limits and require the newspaper to post a "correction" later. To be into writing an illegal article - that requires something REALLY offensive, which I doubt that what Wikileaks has posted can be considered as.
I think that there will be book stores around even in the future, but they need to be more specialized.
There is a difference between a book and an e-reader. If the book breaks it's still mostly readable, and it requires no power to be read.
Considering the amount of crappy channels on TV these days I'm amazed that not more people are reading books, but they are probably surfing the web instead.
And what's even more important - a sound system is often located differently than the display so the use for HDMI seems to be limited in reality, only providing information between media player and amplifier. Those poor sods that use the speakers in the display will suffer from bad sound even though they do have HDMI all the way.
So number of cables "saved" by use of HDMI isn't that large.

Terror attacks will come again from other sources. It doesn't matter how much money you spend. Maybe if you spend enough to create the situation that existed in former East Germany. But do anybody really want to go there?
And are all these measures able to take care of a terrorist like the Una Bomber anyway?

In some parts of the world they are called "Wife".
Shatner has what some actors actually lacks - a kind of distance to himself so he doesn't think that he is something more than he is.

Which also means that it may end up being more predictable and sensitive to attack.
As soon as a crypto is predictable the road left to crack a given message is shorter. Not that it's easy, it will still require some computing power.

This is why I tend to have a meeting allergy.

But in this case it may now be considered a setup regardless of what's happening so that weapon is now not as sharp as it could have been.
So I suspect that they will find a way to give him an infection with a superbug instead where no antibiotics works.
In any case the malware author could be charged with 154 cases of second degree murder. Or will it be mass murder?
It would be interesting to see that in court.
What's more worrying is if they actually have implemented it or are going to.
This means that it's possible that persons with malicious intent can also intentionally disable the devices if such functionality exists.
And another issue - vendors can now remotely kill devices that they consider to be too old to force users to buy a new one.
You will have to resort to horse and carriage to the nearest intercity railway.

Interenal invoicing is just causing a lot more overhead in an organization making it move slower and be less responsive to changes.
Managers will just sit down and fight about internal costs instead of heading forward.
$30 seems to be very high too, but the important thing is also what do you get for it?
The cost of too much storage isn't bad.
Of course - you may say that it's necessary to delete old data, but in some cases you can't know which old data that may be needed again.
Common sense is already blocked in many EULA:s.

Figure out if you can do an OTA (Over The Air) push update to the phones and then start to spam phones.
Can be very interesting to see what they will say if a received SMS can brick the phone.
And I'm running XP-64, so if you love XP and want 64 the possibility exists.
