I don't think he's against neutrality, just legislation as a means to enforce it. Because, then, if someone does come up with a better system later, it will be hard to implement.
Yeah, but the neat thing about laws is that they can be revised or repealed at a later date.
We were playing soccer in Garry's Mod and within minutes a griefer jumped on, stole the ball, and wouldn't let go of it. I explained to my son what a griefer was, turned off the server, and turned it on again with a password.
That seems like a reality-altering lesson to learn - that there are people who derive enjoyment from inflicting suffering on others. Griefers are just one notch above serial killers. Sadism should be a punishable thoughtcrime.
Fast response times and high contrast ratios are all fine and good, but if SEDs burn my retinas after extended hours of use like CRTs do, then you can have my LCD when you pry it from my cold dead hands.
Unfortunately, the idea of the noble poor is just as much a myth.
Everyone has equal potential to be scum. It's just easier to make people hate successful scum.
Actually it's usually the scummiest people (the people most willing to step on others to get to the top) who are "successful".
People who have to actually work for a living have been far more trustworthy per capita than high-level white-collar types in my experience. But don't let me rain on your Objectivist parade.

Java SE 6 Released
·
· Score: 3, Interesting
It's not J2SE anymore. Now it's just Java SE. (Although we still have the 5 (but really 1.5), 6 (but really 1.6) silliness, but it's a step in the right direction.
Please note that it is no longer "J2SE", it's just Java SE. (As per the URL you pasted in your post.)
Sadly the marketroids still insist on calling it Java SE 6 and not Java SE 1.6 (which it is), but at least today we're better off than with Tiger, which was Java 2 SE 5 (aka 1.5)
Can't help but wonder if this is part of an attempt to get Mac users to resign themselves to installing Windows on a virtual machine in their computer so that they can run a less hobbled version of MS Office.
"These gel batteries can't provide the same sort of energy density as lithium ion batteries, but that's now a plus."
Why is that a plus? Seems to me having more energy stored in my battery is a good thing. Shoddy manufacturing, exploding batteries and class action lawsuits notwithstanding.
On divided highways, tailgating rules should not be enforced in the fast lane if the state law requires slower traffic to keep right. In such cases, people holding up traffic in the fast lane should be pulled over and cited.
In all other cases though, I support the enforcement of laws against tailgating.
On the off chance that you are serious or some impressionable idiot might read your comment, unless you have devised some delivery method that either ensures all of the caltrops are absorbed by the target's tires or somehow become inert if the target misses, the unused caltrops will remain on the road and will pose a lethal threat to innocent drivers (and motorcyclists) behind your target.
What I think is sorely missing is a page where interested persons can go to see what the next deadline in the case is and what various known future deadlines are.
I'm constantly reading about assorted developments, but I can't find any place (groklaw included) that provides a clear up-to-date summary of "Where SCO vs. IBM is RIGHT NOW". I've seen the SCO Scorecard, but it's not lucid enough to be grokked in a reasonably short amount of time.
I guess what I'm getting at is that I (like many I imagine) am tired of this debacle dragging on indefinitely and would like to know WHEN we can expect hard deadlines to elapse and this mess either get to a trial or get thrown out.

$99 huh? $100 too rich for your blood?
.01 ?
It's comments like yours (and likely your real life buying habits) that result in such inane dishonest mental pricing games played by marketers.
"No one will buy this car for $20,000... but if you price it $19,999.99 you'll have to beat them away with a stick!"
Wouldn't you rather live in a world where prices were nice even multiples instead of $NICE_EVEN_MULTIPLE -
Does this mean we'll see free tools to do things like create PDFs which unlock the hidden ability of Acrobat Reader to save filled-in form data?

With butchering like that, the language the bill of rights was written in will soon be as much of an empty husk as the bill itself.
That is all.

Oh, and it's completely free.
MS claims enthusiasts are important to them - if this were true would BF2 run at 50% of the framerate it gets under WinXP?
I lol'd.
You really, I mean, you really couldn't just say how big this "giant" display is?
(Yes, strictly speaking 5 years is "over a year and a half", but the point remains.)
Thank you thank you thank you.
