You seem to think people have some kind of obligation to pay your bandwidth bill.. You are mistaken. I pay for my bandwidth. I don't owe you any of it. If you put material up on the internet, you do so knowing that it will cost you money. Why should I donate *my* bandwidth and time (== money) to subsidize every crappy site that I view once then close?
I block *all* ads, and I make no "excuses". If your site can't survive, then you need to find another way to subsidize it.
I swear, someone on mininova is getting paid by someone at Poweriso. If you ask questions on the forums like "what's so great about.daa?", you get banned.
If you ban him, he'll just create a new account. All his posts are quickly modded down, and you can add him as a foe since he's not banned and therefore creating new accounts (and give foes a -5 modifier).
I don't know how iTunes does it, but ID3v2 allows for arbitrary tag data. You just give your tag section an identifier, and you can fill it with anything you want. Programs that don't recognise the identifier just ignore the data in that section.
Hey genius, what about receiving an emergency call? Does your magical device know to turn itself off when one of my loved ones was just rushed to the hospital? Or is you seeing Transformers uninterrupted more important?
Yes, the rest of the theatre being uninterrupted IS more important that your ridiculous paranoia. I don't care whether you miss a message by a couple of hours, EVEN in the unlikely event that it's actually important. If you're that concerned about your "loved ones", don't go to the movies. Also don't ever leave cell-phone coverage. You should also probably buy some extra batteries and several different phones on several different networks, just in case. And chain them to your belt in case you drop them. And never leave the house. That last one is more for the rest of us.
So, Firefox sucks because of OpenOffice.org and Thunderbird? Gosh, that makes sense-a-plenty.
Anyway, I'm not saying the argument couldn't be made that ffx is 'bloated' (don't believe it myself, but there are plenty of people who do). However the OP failed to make any kind of coherent argument - he just made up a silly little rhyme parroting the popular opinion - therefore, NOT insightful.
So how is it that (for example) this article is not tagged 'flamebait'? Has anyone else noticed that the article tags have been purged of all the 'yes no maybe haha itsatrap' stuff? Did I miss an anouncement about this? They're kind of boring now, I preferred them before.
Mod parent up! I noticed that too, very interesting - I wonder whether a jpg compressed as efficiently as the JPEG standard allows could still be improved upon by StuffIt, or whether it just takes advantage of the inefficiency of most jpg compression code..
Uh, no-one's trying to stop students "learn things on their own" - there is no big conspiracy to stop students questioning authority (here). I don't know if you've been on MySpace lately, but it seems most school-aged children aren't really into "learning on their own" - they're more into bad spelling and grammar, childish insults and the like.
Among the findings was a growing trend to circulate embarrassing video clips of young people getting changed after school PE sessions. The images are being captured on mobile phones and passed onto classmates' video iPods. The clips were accompanied by sound tracks of critical comments from laughing tormentors about their victim's body shape or physical attractiveness.
Yep, those student sure were expressing their ideas and passionately learning.
A group of youths allegedly punched, kicked and humiliated a 16-year-old Hastings boy in what police described as a "repugnant" attack which was filmed and then posted on the internet. That posting led to two youths, aged 14 and 16, being arrested yesterday and charged with assault. They will appear in the Hastings Youth Court on Friday. Between 20 to 30 youths - some as young as 12 - watched as the victim was attacked in a Hastings park on March 30.
Obviously this incident had a definite NON-cyber component to it. However, I heard an interview on the radio with the Hastings police chief, and he mentioned that some of the motive for the attack appeared to be increased "street cred" for the attackers, via the YouTube posting.
Basically, I think you give kids way too much credit.
I'd like to see it use the s5 format - then it could be saved as html+css. Take a look at the introductory presentation - it's pretty neat especially considering it's all standard html+css+js.
It gets noticed because a whole bunch of people were killed by one person, intentionally. They were not vitims of policy, unfortunate circumstance, living in a war torn area, etc., they were victims of one dude with a gun in an unexpected situation. That is why it gets noticed.
So, what you're saying is..
It just gets noticed because it's an unusual sort of death.
Lol @ unintentionally agreeing with the person you're disagreeing with.
Also, I'm aware that you can't prove a negative. I would indeed say that I have 'faith' that there is no [pink unicorn|invisible dragon|FSM|God] because although their non-existence is impossible to prove, I consider them unlikely to the point where I can say I absolutely do not believe in them.
So I don't consider my.sig vacuous, and I don't see how it makes me a 'sheep'. Thanks for not saying 'sheeple' by the way:)
How do you think it will get into the add/remove programs list then? The sad fact is, every installable windows program uses the registry.

"I care a little" implies that you could care less, true.
However, "I care a lot" implies the same thing.
"I couldn't care less." is true IIF "I don't care at all".
That's the point of the phrase.

I think we have ourselves a new meme, people!
It's about time too - that beowulf one was getting old.

I'm getting pretty sick of this kneejerk comment to any firefox related story. Seriously mods, that was insightful?
I'd mod you informative, but your sentence doesn't parse. Rephrase?

It's not like he did it all to try to impress slashdotters.
Yeah but ID is supernatural, so it cannot be disproved.

Why?
It should be noted that the rest of the Rama series, being written by some jackass, not Clarke, is rubbish :(
It's a joke, AC. Woody Allen said it.
