The same mirrors that have the ISOs have the regular rpm repositories, you just add them to urpmi and tell it to update(not always for the faint heart tho...)
Your insane. Just WTF do you think your gonna do with Photoshop or Office on a tablet? It's interface is so crowded it's barely usable on a 19" display as it is. I could see quicken being of some use, but really, tablets are meant to be toys.
BTW, they made that happen years ago. They've been making touchscreen tablets for over a decade now with wireless keyboards and mice. It wasn't microsoft that made it happen, it was companies like Viewsonic.
Nobody wanted it then, what makes you think people want it now?
ATI cards have traditionally been better at video and dual head than 3d. Nvidia, traditionally, has been the exact opposite. Open source also drivers get a lot more attention to 2d graphics than proprietary drivers though, as everyone benchmarks and buys based on 3d performance.
That sounds horrible. I have a Radeon 7500, and I can play 720p mkv files back almost perfectly using opengl. 1080i files are a little worse, but still watchable. This is on a Pentium 4/3.0GHz. The only reason I use opengl over xvideo is because I have a dual head setup, and this card is too old to support xvideo with both heads running. With only one head on, I can get absolutely perfect playback.
You may have some serious config problems, rage3d.org is supposed to be a good resource.
Some people can notice the flicker at 60 hz even. Going up further than that, a simple comparison test may yield no discernible difference. But unconsciously it can definitely make a difference. Remember, your brain doesn't see things, it interprets things. So while consciously, you may not be able to pick out a difference, higher quality video and audio still make an experience more natural and let you feel more immersed.
The highest quality displays can look 3d without any special effects simply by displaying an image so perfect that your brain literally thinks its the real deal. For decades, videophiles have been grading calibrated crt televisions based on the amount of depth they feel that they can see into the picture.
Not to mention high frame rates me a video card is ready to tackle bigger projects in the future, representing an investment.
You are so wrong its not funny. People with aspergers do not need to correct their behavior and more or less than anyone else.
There have been lots of studies and there is no more of a risk of someone with aspergers becoming alienated and dangerous than anyone else with a socioeconomic or mental disability. Which happens to comprise a huge portion of the world.
1. I think your missing the point. They probably do, but this is for end users. 2. Ones that are fairly new. Most enterprises are not fairly new and have had computers before the web. 3. Buying something to go on top of something is just not as elegant a solution as something that has been around for decades. X is a very mature platform, whether your using Xorg or one of the many commercial X servers available.
Sorry, it's hard to tell sometimes who's being serious and not. I am glad to hear your not offended.
I do agree that brands are important, but OpenOffice has the brand name recognition outside of the techworld. Not a whole lot but it is there, I just talked to my boss at work(a restraunt) and she's been using OpenOffice for years as a replacement for Works. That was my point. If the project were to have to change names permanently though, she's someone that would pick up on it right away.
Seriously, you need to get out more. Libreoffice has absolutely zero brand name recognition outside of people who read every little bit of tech news. Nobody cares, other than the fact that it's a very stupid, almost childish name.
I'm not saying I don't use Open/Go/Libre/Whatever the fuck it is this week office for my few needs. To even think of marketing for this 'product' is insane. It is a cheap alternative to Microsoft and Corel Office. It was open sourced so sun could spend less money maintaining it. Which is all thats really happened. All this LibreOffice thing does is make the community surrounding it look petty, regardless of their reasons.
I know I'm gonna get flamed for this, but it needs to be said. Having said that, I do appreciate greatly the work of the volunteers, however I think everyone is getting a little carried away with themselves here.
Your absolutely right about all this copy protection crap not adding up to much. Most of the people that steal/share music are kids who don't have any money or a way to get money. If they lock everything down, they're just gonna lose potential future customers. If they would just let them get used to having whatever music they wanted while they're young, they'll more likely than not have a much healthier interest in music later on in life, including artists still signed to Sony. By cutting them off, it just forces them to get into the indie/underground scene or something entirely different.
Thats a really good point, something any country wishing to remain technologically competitive should understand. The best minds know they can go anywhere in the world and work, and they're gonna pick the most hospitable places. A lot of researches threatened to leave the US over the DMCA, although I don't know how many actually followed through. Look at Russia, they have an excellent school system but the US surpassed them long ago. China is making some gains, but it's still nothing compared to the US at the turn of the 20th century if you ask me.
I can't imagine why any highly skilled worker would choose to work under restrictive conditions when there is a choice.
I doubt they care. Nobody in the US got indicted for selling Saddam biowarfare agents in the 80's, in his war against Iran. But of course, all that anthrax, sarin, and bubonic plague were labeled creatively as Dual Use Products.
My understanding is that the emergency broadcast system is implemented by the stations themselves. Which is why it's a law for them to test it weekly......
Yeah, thats how we did it back in the day when we were all using dial up to get on the internet. You would be absolutely amazed at what people were achieving as far as STREAMING video of 48k baud modems(nobody got the full 56k). Some of the videos had decent quality and almost completely smooth motion toward the end of the era, and this was on computers barely capable of laying mp3's. God only knows what you could accomplish today with so much more processing power. I've networked computers with a bunch of old modems together, just by splicing in a 9v battery with the phone line. worked just fine, you could stretch out a long distance of just about any reasonable guage wire(you just need two leads) and put a bunch of car batteries on it, through the desert to connect with egypt. Would probably run for days, if not weeks, and be streami1ng video! Line noise might become an issue, but at the very least you could get text and pictures through. Error correction got very advanced on the later modems, and i believe 33.6 is enough to stream video even with old codecs.
Using wifi, you could stream full tv quality video streams absolutely no problem. I've streamed full quality dvds with just plain mpeg2 video through adhoc wireless networks 802b through multiple computers while other network activity was going on. It worked perfectly, even with other network operations going on, that wasn't even possible using a router.
We're so spoiled today it drives me nuts, thinking about how advanced and useful old technology can be.
The problem with this though, is walking around libya with a bunch of electronics. On the other hand, the revolutionaries I believe control the border with Egypt, so if they had the technical ability or wanted to it could be done. These are very independent and proud people, they've lived for 40 years under him without asking for help, I doubt they're going to start now.
If its not a toggle switch you have to change a setting in the bios, if the computer supports it. If not, there might be a jumper on the motherboard. If not, you can try a little hack to the power supply.
I'm doing that right now.

Are you insane? There are no drivers for my card for Win7 or Vista, and the ones for XP haven't been updated in years.

best therapist i ever had. I miss him.

Looks like the company may be back in business, check their website.

wtf is that supposed to mean
i'm really curious

Aren't our elected leaders supposed to represent us and not JUST big content/software companies
You must be new around here.

Australia seems to be pretty busy here lately.
IP over Ham radio, or massively linked adhoc wireless network(I have no idea how scaleable that is though)
Also, ultra low freqency shortwave is used but at only about 300 baud or so.
I doubt they care. Nobody in the US got indicted for selling Saddam biowarfare agents in the 80's, in his war against Iran. But of course, all that anthrax, sarin, and bubonic plague were labeled creatively as Dual Use Products.

A lot of hotels have a digital phone system that'll fry a modem if you plug it in.
If its not a toggle switch you have to change a setting in the bios, if the computer supports it. If not, there might be a jumper on the motherboard. If not, you can try a little hack to the power supply.
Theres paid firefighters, but most firefighters are volunteers and don't get paid at all.
They've had that for years, they call them stereo monitors. Requires special software and video cards though.
