"Nintendo is the minority console, so many if not most of its games are quality games; classics. But take a look at the hundreds of games for PS2. How many good ones can you name? Not many.""Why isn't the best console (GC) the most popular? Why is it in fact the least popular? Because people are morons and they need their filler games, not classics."
Oh, when you put it that way I couldn't agree with you more. I definatly agree with your PS2 comment. Both the PS and the PS2 have hundreds of games that have been made for the systems and 95% of them are pure crap. While Nintendo might not have the quantity they sure do have the quality.
"And some consumers will continue to pay for and eat up the majority of recycled crap over years and years and years; aka morons"
So because I buy and play the different Mario games on the different Nintendo systems I'm a moron huh? I'm going to have to disagree with you. I'd say I'm not a moron, I just like a fun game. And sure Super Smash Bros. and Super Smash Bros. Melee are kind of the same thing but Melee added more characters and also improved upon the game play. Same can be said for the different Mario Kart games. While they are all basically race around a track as your favorite Nintendo characters the one for GC should be much improved ot the one for the SNES.On the other side of things I try original games when they look good and haven't gotten awful reviews. I enjoyed Pikmin which I consider to be pretty original for today's games.
As long as it's a good game I'll play it. I don't care if it's a sequel, a remake or original just as long I have fun.
I personally am looking forward to Mario Kart to come out. I don't care what all you anti-Nintendo people say about the games being "kiddy". They are fun. Who cares if I'm not gunning down helpless civilians? I sure don't. Nintendo is a fun system and that's why I support Nintendo by buying their products and have never been disappointed with any of my purchases.
Sure the DVD playback was a big thing for this generation of gaming systems but I don't think it'll be as big of a deal with the next generation of systems. When this gen was coming out there weren't many people with DVD players. Now a lot of people have either an actual DVD player of a PS2/X-box and so when the next gen comes out it won't be as much of a selling point. I think Nintendo did the right thing and I sure hope that they don't add one to their next system. It'll just increase the price for the GC2 or whatever it'll be called and I won't use it because I already have a DVD player.
I don't think it matters what Nokia does, the N-Gage isn't going to do too well. From just about every preview and review I've read about the N-Gage all of them make it sound like this is a hunk of junk and not worth my money.
they better blame reviews in the paper and on tv too. Also better go after all the web sites that I check for reviews. Oh yeah, and don't forget word of mouth. That's bad too.
From now on when you go to a movie you'll have to sign a slip saying you won't say anything bad about it.
Do you feel that all the media attention around Arnold and the other big name people is making for an unfair election that won't give people, like yourself, with valid points and opinions a fair chance to express your views?
I don't see why this is a big deal. Times are different now. Back them I'm pretty sure a game like Vice City or BMX XXX would have caused a lot more of a stir if it would have even been published at all. So Nintendo changed a game a little to make it more friendly for all. It is a family consol after all.
just think of all those sexy bearded dwarven women. Can't beat that. You can keep your scrawny PEF elves. Human women are so boring. Gimme a nice stout, hairy she-dwarf any day.
This gen, it's losing miserably to Sony and Microsoft
If you'd read the story I'd linked above you'd see that actually the GC is outselling the X-box slightly. So I don't see how that would make them be losing miserably to Microsoft. Nice try.
Mario Kart is scheduled to be released on Nov. 17. Mario Golf which can be played with up to 4 people was just released. Mario Tennis will be out at some point. Smash Bros. has been out for a while. The GC version of Medal of Honor:Frontline has a multi-player feature. Can't forget the Monkey Ball games. Bomberman Generations is a lot of fun with 4 people.
But Satoru Iwata promised the struggling games company was developing a radical new product to be announced next year
Struggling games company? Yes the GameCube isn't selling well but that does not mean that Nintendo is struggling. Far from it. In fact just the other day at PlanetGameCube they posted a story about Nintendo posting a profit. Doesn't sound like struggling to me.
The majority of the time I will rent a game before I buy it. $50 is a lot of money to spend on a game and I'm not willing to gamble if a game is good or not. Many times I'll rent a game and be sick with it before it's even time to return it or it just plain sucks. I'd rather spend $5 than $50.
Currently I'm living in Germany and am using GamesforRent.com. It's a great service. I've used it for over 6 months and haven't had any problems.
whereas nintendo basically rolled over and gave up in the console market; the gameboy has fought off hoards of similarly impressive technical specifications.
Since when did Nintendo roll over and give up in the console market? If I'm not mistaken they are still making games and planning on a system after the Gamecube. Sure they aren't selling as many systems as Sony is but they are far from not making a profit.
If they'd rolled over and given up why would they still be focusing on the Cube and the Cube's replacement? I think you're cutting Nintendo a little short there.
"White Wolf will release a special addition to its popular Vampire:
The Eternal Struggle trading-card game based on the Time of Judgment.
'The Gehenna expansion allows VTES to partake in this exciting storyline,'
said Steve Wieck, White Wolf's Director of Card Projects. "We're committed
to continued support of VTES, and this set of boosters is only the first
part of that."
Even if WW dropped support for V:tES after ToJ it'd still go. We kept the game going when Wizards of the Coast dropped it and we'll keep it going if WW ever drops it.
MSN has an article about Leo DiCaprio patenting his name.
Oh, and speaking of Leo, the "Gangs of New York" heartthrob has decided to really cover his rear by going the extra mile on a patent. Perhaps thinking that his famous name is more than, well, just a name, DiCaprio has applied to the Department of Commerce to have it trademarked. While it may sound a bit extreme to you or me, the 24-year-old star's trademark application has already received a preliminary approval from Commerce's Patent & Trademark Office. I guess that kills my chances at naming my firstborn after him! Oh well.
Not to long ago someone mentioned Combat Mission in a post. I followed it and boy am I glad I did. This is one of the best games I've ever played. It is very realistic and highly addictive. Originally the game was only distributed over the internet but now it is showing up in stores in the US due to its popularity and the high praises it recieved.
I recommend you at least download the demo if you are into turn based strategy games. I promise you it'll be one of the best you've ever played.
I am usually very against guns. I hate them personally but growing up in the country with family members that hunt I have no problems with them in a general sense. What Dean says on gun control makes sense. Why should it be the same in small town Vermont as it is in inner city LA? Read it for youself...Dean for America
No because it wasn't a teen or a group of teens who did it. Adults aren't affected by violent games, only impressionable teens. Especially if they listen to Marilyn Manson. Manson and violent video games cause shooting sprees. Manson, violent video games, and bad parenting. Manson, violent video games, bad parenting, and CowboyNeal.
Good! I hope more states will follow their lead. If pressure isn't kept on Microsoft they won't change. They've already proved that some. I don't think the states should let up on Microsoft until there's actually some change.
And over at Firaxis they have an announcment about it too.

It's like a bad movie. If the original sucks I'm going to be less likely to go see a sequel because I remember how bad the first was.

Seems to be a lot of multi-player games to me.
