Serenity named top sci-fi movie
Star Wars (...) came second in the survey. Blade Runner was third, followed by Planet of the Apes, The Matrix, Alien and Forbidden Planet.
I was wondering while reading the article if this was not one of these stupid polls where people would vote for movies with special effects but how can you put Blade Runner in the same category than Serenity and Serenity #1 while Blade Runner #3 ???
For a fan, it would be like comparing The Untouchables with Terminator 3 or any of the latest action movies...
I wonder how they recruited those so-called sci-fi fans ? Did they poll people who subscribed to Sci-Fi cable channel or put a flyer in Serenity DVD box ?
As your grandmother, I wanted to ask you when you would have time to install me this bittorrent client you are speaking so much of so I can download some music.
I should have added that I agree with you, but I didn't see the point to post/agree, although I forgot/joke...
You cannot expect/. to have a good knowledge of legal issues, most of the peeps here will go for logical conclusions as we are mostly people with maths/computer/physics background...
To stay on topic, you could argue that you could make it easier to file a complaint against frivolous lawsuits, but the real problem is to prove that the plaintiff sued you without real reasons.
I work in trading and you could relate that to insider trading rules... Insider trading is very hard to prove and most of the peeps caught in insider trading are only the ones who did it in a too "obvious way". The most used defense against insider trading is just to say :
- that either you didn't know it
- that you were not using insider information
In any case, the plaintiff (the SEC for you, the FSA for me), will have to prove, in a clear and irrefutable way, that you were actually involved in insider dealing, and unless they seize some emails or some other proof, it is nearly impossible to prove that you were actually involved in insider dealing.
To finish with that parallel, it would be very hard, in front of a court to prove that the plaintiff knew and was doing a lawsuit without real reasons for it. In the UK, the FSA which regulates trading rules, has implemented a series of civil penalties in addition of the older criminal penalties, because proving intention (criminal penalties) is much harder than seeking fines from the companies for bad behavior and consequences (civil penalties).
Actually it's not only about money, it should be about the total time lost between jury and time taken from the judges who cannot work on more important matters.
The RIAA is not really trying to do a preliminary study before to sue...
He means a copy paste functionality ala COM/Windows. Where you can copy and paste from any browser windows then paste it into any email client/word processor and keep the format. Or it can translate the data depending of the COM filter..
It is quite nifty in an office environment to copy paste a screenshot, the content of a browser window, application data... etc
You see, alot of people whose job is not IT related need these kind of functionalities... as they/we spend our whole life using computers only as tools not for development issues... I am not working in programming anymore and my only issue with a comp that I have at the office is that it can sends emails, cut time spent in my daily tasks, and in my job, Windows is, for now, better suited for that.
I am not a pro-windows guy nor a MS employee, refrain from modding me from what I stated above, which is only my own and personal opinion, and, you are, of course, allowed to disagree with me.
Commercial licenses are also viral, most of licenses do NOT allow you to redistribute/resell products using their tools/librairies, unless you pay an extravagant fee.
People who try to scare you when saying that the GPL is viral are the same ones who put patents over their code and resell you their tools for a fee.
Yeah we can see a parallel at the moment with the overhyped GeForce 8 series. Although the product is good it suffered of bad drivers. Still because it is the only DX10 compatible card and its performances are quite good, most of the enthusiasts go for it. And there is no incentive to push the prices down for now since the R600 from ATI has been delayed.
Monopolism is bad for the users. The only advantage brought by competition is that you don't have any compatibility issues on your overpriced unfixed... operating syst... *coughs*... I mean software/hardware !!!
I am no AMD/Intel/Nvidia/ATI/MacOSX fan or MS-hater but it would be nice that Intel and Nvidia get challenged by their competitors alit bit more...
His point is that maybe someone claimed that Jesus existed, not that he existed and he created his community of believers... someone could come and claim that he existed in order to bring a new religion.
"Wired journalist Fred Vogelstein blogs about how he accidentally got hold of a dossier on himself produced by Microsoft's PR firm, Waggener Edstrom..." Microsoft's PR firm, Waggener Edstrom, just upgraded to Vista(c)...
I am no physicist but I doubt that would be enough to run nuclear plants ? I am sure that it would provide more energy than recycling fuel bombs though.
RTFP (post) !
I just put echo off

Since you are 0% statistician, I guess your figures have 99.9% chances to be a made up on the fly to backup your argument with a 95% probability.
I may be 100% wrong though !
It's called Pavlov experiment. You may know it under the name of Classical conditioning learning. Very useful stuff.

Then we would just need to call the cleaners to remove the A340-ic junk/waste on the ground ...
