If we were, then the military could just ride full bore over everything and finish up quickly. The goals dictate the strategy, and the goal in Iraq right now has nothing to do with winning a war.

They are targeted to very specific people who are looking for the best performance. If you did nothing but land speed tests, 33% more money for a 10% higher top end would indeed be worth it.
Also, the 300 to 330 FPS comparison is flawed. With many modern games, the quality of the effects scales upward with the power of the GPU. It's not just that the games will run smoother, but also that it will look better.
