I'm not really sure what people are so excited about here, but I think I now have a pretty good sense of how mediocre consoles with mediocre games (PS1 and PS2) could dominate the market.
You're missing the main point - this isn't about rights, it's about free entertainment. All these arguments about freedom and rights and whatnot are just window dressing on a condemned house.
Slashdot quality at an all-time low. Record numbers of non-stories posted. Tagging system continues to be abused by 14 year olds. Comments from hippies and antisocial nerds pour in at unprecedented rates. People who reject society still wonder why society rejects them.

Your post got me to thinking about some stuff. I started wondering, for instance, how the redistribution of wealth could play out in an equitable manner. What I realized is that, once that's done, you've basically made wealth a non-factor, like equal terms on both side of an equation.
So wealth is canceled, really. That led me to wonder about the underlying point of wealth, and I came to the conclusion that it's really just an expression of power, since it derives its meaning solely from what people invest in it as an abstract concept. So I started thinking this is probably more about redistribution of power, and wealth is just a symbol of that.
Then I wondered, how does one redistribute power? You can't really enforce it, because enforcement requires power, which is inherently unequal all over again.
So how would this work, exactly? It's a bit of a logic box I can't seem to escape. What am I missing here?
It's not like Rocky Horror Picture Show is generally amusing to anyone except the people who psychotically obsess over it. To most people out here in the world, it's a shitty film with a stupid set of traditions that are equally boring.

Dead last place is one way to sum up the current market position of the 360. Leading in first is another. Since it's the only console in it's market at this point, both labels are equally meaningless. Your usage exposes you for the troll you are.
The parallel you attempted to draw is uneven. It's intellectually dishonest to compare the government listening to someone speaking freely to the IRS enforce those laws it is charge to enforce. It is a blatant attempt to introduce an emotional element into a reasonable discussion, and as such, is bankrupt of validity.
Everything's obvious in retrospect. People seeing something for the first time claiming "I could have thought of this" have no credibility in my book, whether or not they cry out loud.
