  1. no ones gonna read this but..... on Computer Rebates Not As Sinister As You Think · · Score: -1

....Ill say it anyway. In the uk we dont seems to get rebate offers, if they did i would be the kind of guy to make sure i got them all! never ever give up! I do remember a deal where if you bought a computer for about 800 quid (~1600 bucks) if you remembered to mail in the rebate 4 years later you would get all your money back, but you had to remember within a two week period after the four years!

At the risk of starting a flame war....

... Oracle is a rubbish dinosaur that hasnt aged all that well. DB/400 (and its ancestors) is older but better why? coz IBM said if it dont do what you want, work round to it. Oracle said, ok we'll patch it. MySQL is excellent for what it is, a website database server so i dont think they have to worry too much I cant see many php developers going to the trouble of using oracle.

  7. Missing the point on Another Victim Countersues RIAA Under RICO Act · · Score: 1

I know this is a silly point but....... The RIAA has been missing a trick for years, radio has been broadcasting free music which you can record and keep and never pay for. and its been going on for years! theres millions and millions of ppl for the riaa to sue for listening to music they didnt pay a penny! The fact that iTunes is a big success should say something. If the RIAA embraced the new technology instead of demonizing it they would make loads more money. its a well known fact that artists make their money from concerts and other performances etc (advertisings, drinking pepsi (although i never actually saw wacko drink a single can of it) etc). Im gonna set up a new record company, signup artists and distrubute (promote) their music via bit torrent, radio tv etc. and then send them on world tours etc. anyone?

  10. Journalists in general on Bad Science in the Press · · Score: 1

Let me start by saying that the gardian is a very poncy pretensous newspaper for people who watch channel 4 (appologies to our american cousins who probably wont know what I mean here, peeps in the UK will know what im talking about). Journalists have to write stories in a way that makes them appealling enough to read, in order to do that they have to exagerate a bit, trouble is they do it with the science bit too. They also have to sensationalise stories and end up misleading ppl. For example MMR.
