I'd use them, but only in certain places.
Certainly never on a subway or any other public place where you should be alert to your surroundings. They'd be ideal for taking on a trip to use on a plane or in a hotel room.
No surprise here at all.
The goverment isn't even willing to get proper warrants to tap regular phone and internet service.
VOIP won't be any different.
Look for encryption to be made illeagal for all phone and IP services in the very near future.
This is just another step in the war on the constitution.
Devoloping this technology could ultimately come back to bite us. The US has more birds up there then anyone else does, and once we develop the technology, other countries will get it quickly after that.
Sounds like it's time to start developing laser proof sats.
The fact that the information was on the stub and was easily retreivable shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Companies are way too free with where they put such information.
Companies need to be held accountable for such things. Casinos actually do things the right way in this case. Loyalty cards and cash out tickets are usually encoded only with an ID number and no more. PINs, address information and such are almost never included.
Sorry, should have made my sarcasm more obvious.
I don't believe in capitol punishment at all. Not that some people don't deserve to die for their crimes mind you, but the goverment certainly isn't to be trusted with such decisions.
Minors get lesser penalties, because for the most part, they're all idiots.
While I feel this guy deserves to be punished, I don't feel he needs the book thrown at him.
Doesn't matter how big the house is, we still end up filling it. I have a good sized (12'x14') room dedicated to the computer and some of the older systems...planning on building a shelf system to house them all. Sad thing is, I'm realizing now that the room's just not big enough for what I want to do...
My wife has seriously threatened to lock me out of the house if I bring in one more piece of computer equipment.
Aside from the tons o' PC hardware, including old motherboards going back to 386's, I've got a full AS/400, which is about the size of two dorm fridges put together.
Gaming system wise, I've got the Fairchild, 3DO, NES, Saturn, Dreamcast, Gamecube, Genesis, N64, PS1 &2, Xbox, Odessy...and a couple more that are slipping my mind right now.
I feel for you dude. Geeks with wives always get shit for this very thing.
First of all, relax...
Secondly, the dreamcast was an amazing console which suffered from poor management and marketing. I still pull my dreamcast out from time to time.
I own all 3 of the current generation of consoles. I probably play the Gamecube the least, but the PS2 and XBox both get regular use.
There are alot of great Xbox games out there other then Halo (which I don't even own) including Fable, KOTR, Morrowind, and the DOA series.
I'll buy the 360 when it comes out. I'm sure I'll be picking up the PS3 as well. Revolution might have to wait longer, but it will get added to the same collection.
At some point, even the 360 and the PS3 will look about as up to date as the Fairchild Channel F I've got sitting on my shelf.
Putting the PS3 underground for a year with the 360 coming out in a few months seems like a mistake to me. It would seem they would want as much exposure as possible during this time to keep from being completely overshadowed by Microsoft.
No surprise there.
I won't go into a theater anymore. I use Netflix and buy the movies I really want to watch. I've invested in a HD widescreen 52" television and a decent 6.1 surround sound system. Now when I watch a movie:
1. I can get up to go pee without missing any of it.
2. I don't have other people annoying me while I'm trying to watch it. (Well, other then the wife and kids, but what can you do?)
3. I can smoke, and have a glass of scotch.
4. I don't have to watch a half hour of commercials before the movie starts.
And I can do all this from the comfort of my sofa in my boxer shorts.
Oh, and I've never downloaded a feature movie off the net. I've seen them, the quality isn't what I want.
DVD's and home theater systems have made the theater more of a hassle then a special event. Unless you're going by yourself, you're going to spend as much if not more going to the theater then you will buying the DVD. Leave the theaters to the teenyboppers on dates. They're not there to watch the movie anyway.
which we all know they won't. Most of the time we find them on a post-it note stuck to the monitor. The really sharp ones tape it under the keyboard.
The best one I've seen was a guy who kept his taped under his monitor. He'd actually lift this bulky CRT every time he needed to login.
Welcome to the new America.
When corporations see things happening that they don't like, they call the congressmen that they've bought and paid for and tell them to fix it.
Look at the bankruptcy bill. Nothing could more blatantly tell the American public that our lawmakers are only concerned with the interests of large corporations and the ultra-wealthy.
Just as the article points out, this is like a public library having to ask permission from Borders before checking out books.
It's sad that it's come to this, but there just isn't much that can be done.
I think 3 million is probably a good estimate, IF they can get them into stores that quickly.
With the release being so close to the holiday season, I'll be surprised if it's not a major hassle to find one between the release date and xmas.
This is going to expose the product to the people who are going to be buying it early on.
I personally can't wait to see it, and depending on the price point, I'll probably buy one farily soon after they come out.
I've got all 3 of the current generation of consoles, and at present I own more games for the Xbox then the other 2 combined.
The Xbox is a really solid machine, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what the next generation is going to be capable of.
Regardless of the legality of the site, it is down now simply because they didn't have the money to fight a lawsuit.
This is a dangerous trend which has been going on for far too long.
Most casinos will redeem chips from another casino in the same area. High denom chips are considered suspicious, but the normal denoms are used without an issue.
Every so often, the casinos will exchange the "foreign" chips back to the casino they originated from.
I definately agree that pan and scan is crap. MGM was misrepresenting the movies as something they weren't, and I personally don't buy DVD's anymore unless they're widescreen.
But to compare Teen Wolf Too or Valley Girl to the Mona Lisa is a bit of a stretch.;)
In my opinion, a lot of the appeal of the first movie was in the "Wow" factor of it. Computers were not nearly as ubiquitous as they are today. Video games were a huge rage, but still mostly confined to the arcade.
With all of the CGI enhanced movies being done today, great special effects won't have the same impact.
There will certainly be some draw based on nostalgia, however I think that will lead mostly to disappointment.
$185 still seems like a pretty high price for something designed to provide access to the third world.
Seems like they should be able to design a cheaper unit for this.
I'd use them, but only in certain places.

Nonsense. There was plenty of porn available in Beta format. I personally owned at least 12 different porn titles on Beta.

Seriously, they had to expect this. They should've had a more orderly way to deal with this sale.

Guess that means execution is out.
Damn shame.

But only if they start exporting Corner Gas.
Trust me, we'd be getting the better end of the deal.
