My 200MMX is capable of booting from a CD. But that involves alot. What if you need to make a change for some reason? You have to reburn the CD. With a floppy you can edit on the fly.
This will just cause an underground ring to develop for video games. You could even start having games, or mods for games, being developped by people that are only released in an underground. In the PC world, Warez would become a larger, more dominante form of pirating software. People might start developping kits to copy console games, just like credit card readers are being sold in the 2600 magazine.
If this bill passes, it might create an even bigger problem.

I remember reading some of the Anarchy text files from textfiles.com about 3-4 years back, and some of the stuff they came up with was ingenious. This was childs play. How could anyone just give money to someone without any proof or analysis of the equipement? There are litterally hundreds of communications companies out there developping technology. I am sure these investors were not techs themselves. Not one of them was skeptical enough to bring someone with a little insite to these presentations? I think perhaps these companies got what was comming to them. A wake up call to reality.
Though I do remember reading a story about Cisco on slashdot, not too long ago, about a similar technology. Something about 10mbps over barb wire? Here is the previous link to that. Perhaps his so called "vision" was not completely out of the range of possibility.
I think what it really comes down to is eventually we'll be seeing options for him in polls aswell. Or perhaps they'll be some epic battle between the two of them for the generic slashdot icon position.
Actually most of them, particularly with the BSOD title, weren't there when I posted. I know because I did a search for the title before I posted. SO I guess I was the first lamer...
They don't actually post a price for the fuel on the site yet. They INCLUDE it with the unit. Hence the question, WTF is the price for the unit ITSELF?
...you must be new to the whole tech support thing...
heh, that's funny...
Depending on what "tier" you work for, I might work on the floor above you.:)
Atleast you guys support Windows 2000. Netzero's official take on the matter is that the software works on the operating system, but we can only offer limited support.
If you call up the call centre with Windows XP you don't really know if your going to get support or not.
...to best of my ability...
There are different levels of ability in the call centre, you might even get someone who might just flat out and say "We don't support XP, good bye."
Perhaps because they are not technically inclined, or perhaps because they don;'t want to waist the time.
There is a guy right now in the national archives who's only job is to rewind old movies. Just because if he doesn't the film will stick together and get ruined.
This is someone's job. Just because they want to keep the original and preserve it.
We are eventually going to run out of space. Its that simple.
I've noticed people posting the current pricing as being overpriced. They cut them back a couple hundred aswell. The starting price for the base model was $1200, not $999. Perhaps when they start getting desperate and they come down in price, I'll consider picking one up.
Nice to know that NASA has thier priorities straight. I wonder what napkin they dreampt this little venture on and when it is going on ebay?
Forget trying to build the IIS, I want to focus on getting beer up there. The really important stuff.
And I laughed when Jerry Sienfeld joked about bring a car to the moon; how it was the ultimate male idea. Brining a car to the moon so we coule drive around.
Now we have beer...guess they'll have to make it illegal to drive drunk on the moon aswell, before we have an accident.
I've got boxes of Lego and Construx at home sitting in the basement. Haven't opened the boxes in years, but I still remember using Super Glue to allow perfectly stable cross overs.:)
Type 'God' in your search engine and you come up with jack.
Hopefully this hasn't already been posted

I took a look at Extreme Hardware, which was the site that they talked about, when looking at some of the reviews, especially the one about motherboards, I quickly realized how much non-sensical yammering was actually in the article. The articles are well thought out and put together, but it is really hard to get at the die hard facts. And to be honest, I think that is what people really want.
Being able to yammer on about useless filler is something for cocktail parties and suit & tie affairs, not for the hardware community.
Reviews are mostly about benchmarking anyways, you want to see this chip beat that chip, or how much improvement over previous generations of it has actually occured.
I guess that was really the point, but perhaps they should call themselves InDepthTech...maybe write a few text books...
There are millions and millions of people on Netzero...how is that a small user base? There are alot of people who just use it to check email once a day. What is the point in paying for such a small net usage if you don't have to?
One thing they should stop doing is trying to appeal to a wider audience. That is the reason star trek is dying.
None of the episodes link (hardley any of them) and if they did it was so small it didn't impact the episode if you missed the first one. All the episodes were one in themselves. DS9 realized this at the last moment and made the last season very brilliant.
Baywatch Babe 7 of 9 is there to attrach the male side who would not ordinarily watch the show. They could have left her borg implants in place and left her looking ugly and she would have filled the parts of the episodes were she has some technical thing to do.

I use boot disks all the time for hard drive partitioning, formating, boot utilities, and drive copying...
The common user might not use it anymore, but alot of techs do.
Its the best diagnostic utility you could have.

I want to be the first one with pictures of the Blue Screen of Death on a cell phone.
Looks like I might just have to download it from 1 of another billion locations like this one:

That's all we really need is Star Trek 8 with different characters and settings...

If Netzero counted every single user that had signed up for Netzero, Netzero have a bigger "user base" then AOL.
Thank you for calling Netzero Technical Support, how may I help you?
You want to cancel your account?
Ok Sir, unless the accounts are actively maintained (some activity, email or otherwise) then they should become deactive within 2 months.
Thank you for calling...

They are denying Anonymous access now. I guess they wanted to avoid the Slashdot affect as much as possible.
