Ron Paul is the most sane politician running for the Republican nomination... but I still can't vote for him. This election, I need someone who is going to start a push for socialized healthcare in this country, and Ron Paul is just not going to do that. I have often railed against single issue voters... but this election is different for me, unless a candidate is willing to support a national health care system, they won't get my vote. I'm fortunate to live in a state with a health care system that covers poor working adults (unfortunately my coverage partly depends on the S-Chip program), I would be bankrupt and destitute without it. So while Ron Paul is a great candidate for supporting the constitution and civil liberties as well as foreign policy... he isn't socialist enough for my needs.
Remember that a Nintendo representative said that a new version of the Wii will be hitting store shelves sometime soon. So there will be a DVD playback Wii and a non DVD Wii.
I would argue that Bionic Commando had an excellent plot... at least for the era of gaming it was available in. A story of the Nazis (essentially) trying to revive Adolf Hitler to build a terrifying device. In the mean time, the Allies greatest hero, Super Joe from the old Commando game, has been captured and they send you to find him. You traverse enemy strongholds of numerous varieties, visit neutral fortifications... you wiretap enemy lines and the story unfolds before you. You learn where Super joe is held, where he's transfered and what the "Nazis" plans are.
I'll agree that this isn't an amazing and original story.. but during an era of videogames that consisted of "jump on spiders" and "Collect Points"... a game like Bionic commando, which is story driven, has a beginning and end, and is entirely possible from start to finish without relying on cheap traps and memorization, is a real accomplishment. To this day, it is one of the few NES games I can actually sit down and play... because it is a real game, complete with story.
My biggest fear of the new Bionic Commando is that it will be a 'Final Fight: Streetwise' sort of screwup.
Wasn't this the same instruction that had previously been overturned in another pending case... that the RIAA kindly forgot to mention to the court in this particular case?
Yes, Edgar Bronfman, The Warner Music CEO said he was certain his kids downloaded music. But don't worry, he gave them a stern lecture about the music they downloaded... so they won't do it again.
We're already fed up with the handling of the war... and now BMG blows the whistle on the Bush administration's blatant violation of copyright law. I hope BMG takes care of this and faithfully executes their right, as copyright holder, to bring this man to justice!
How fucking dare anyone out there make fun of Anonymous Coward after all they have been through?
Anonymous Coward hasn't made a good post in years. They begin everything with "fp" because all you people care about is FIRST POST! FIRST POST! FIRST POST!
LEAVE THEM ALONE! You are lucky they even chose to post here you bastards! LEAVE ANONYMOUS COWARD ALONE!
Please!
Speaking of professionalism, when is it professional to publicly bash a human being who is going through a hard time?
Leave Anonymous Coward alone, please.
LEAVE ANONYMOUS COWARD ALONE RIGHT NOW. I MEAN IT.
Anyone that has a problem with them, you deal with me, because it is not well right now.
Ah, but here is where my superior Blobonian knowledge comes into play...
The original 1958 'The Blob', starring legendary Steve McQueen, features an extra terrestrial creature crashing to Earth in a meteorite. The creature is of unknown origin and is presumed to be not of this world.
In the 1988 remake 'The Blob' attempts to create a history to the blob. As the crash site is quarantined by government agents, it is realized that the Blob is not of alien origin... but of Human, having been created as a biological weapon and sent into space for testing. Unfortunately for the small town, it becomes a living organism and consumes organic material at an alarming rate... showing signs of intelligence.
I hope my Blobian expertise has helped shed light onto this subject as well as Blob history and Blob knowledge. Blob.
Jesus Christ... I read the segment about Thompson and Janet Reno, and it reads like a parody in a Hustler magazine. It is so insane and over the top that it can't possibly be true... can it?
Enough of this rubbish. You don't have to enjoy them, but I'm tired of this "id makes tech demo" garbage. If they made "tech demos", they would BE tech demos... not full blown games. If you want to argue that id makes largely mediocre games with a powerful underlying engine... we could certainly have a discussion. When people continue to try and be clever and say id releases "tech demos" then they, and you, are just wrong... inarguably wrong. repeat after me, id does not make "tech demos".
"WTF? Maybe if you peeled your fat ass away from the computer and spent time with family and friends and maybe got involved with some activities you could make new friends."
Or MAYBE I can do BOTH! I frequently go out and converse with new people and make new friends... however I have some really good friends that I don't want to lose track of, and Facebook happens to provide a wonderful solution to that. If I had to correspond via letters, phone calls and long trips... I would have lost touch with many terrific people. With Facebook or other social networking sites I can move all over the country and my profile on facebook never moves... so I don't have to update new addresses to all my old friends. I also can quickly write an email/wall post to an old friend and ask how they have been doing and if either of us will be in the vicinity of the other in the near future to get together.
Despite using social networking sites to talk with friends I can ALSO go out and hang out with real people near me. This isn't a One or the other... I can "Get off my fat ass" and meet new people in person... AND I can use facebook to maintain old friendships.. even maybe make a few new ones. I've found that Social Networking sites are an extremely helpful tool.
The military is, at the very least, being disingenuous and misleading when it advertises and recruits. Recall the old National Guard slogan? No? Probably because they stopped using it... "One weekend a month, two weeks a year." Sounds like a sweet deal "Come on, the National Guard doesn't do shit! At best you work a couple months and get paid well!" It was the NG's big selling point in advertisements and television for years. That was until the Iraq war when the National Guard was required to stay for excessive and extended tours of duty... soon it wasn't enough to convince people that the "Easy" National Guard was just a couple months of training and work.
Absolutely, the military doesn't LIE and it spells out exactly what you may potentially be asked to do... but they're very good at using semantics to mislead people. In this case it is a Kickass(tm) action game meant to entice children to join the military.
When I was a kid, my father and I mapped out all the dungeons and the castle and actually BEAT Deadly Towers (More impressive, we did the same thing and Beat "Back to the Future 2&3"). Deadly Towers isn't HARD... it's just terrible. It's long, ugly and monotonous. Music replays every new screen you enter, you fight the most uninspired enemies and fall in random holes that lead to dungeons. No, Deadly Towers is NOT one of the hardest games I've ever played, just one of the worst. Now... Ask me about Miner 2049er on the Colecovision... and I can't even BEGIN to tell you how many times I threw Coleco controllers on the ground and swore at that machine as a child. I never made it past Level 6.
the Wii is genuinely more interesting and has more scope for games development than either
I know this is slashdot and all... but this is PURELY subjective. I hear this ALL the time... the Wii has oh so much potential... but I have yet to really experience it. I bought a Wii because I saw one in a store and picked it up for a friend. He didn't want it and it has sat in its box in my room since June... unopened. Absolutely I see products for the Wii that look fun... Metroid Prime 3, Zelda, SSBB... but there aren't a lot. Moving the wiimote around and setting it on my head is not what I personally call "more scope for game development". I actually enjoyed Twilight princess for Gamecube more because it was easier to use a controller than the wiimote.
I can't understand why the Wii is flying off shelves so fast... there really aren't many good reasons to have one at this time... my only guess is that it has that "Oh so sweet" factor that everyone is buying into. I know many are excited about the wii... but I would LOVE to stop hearing people declare the Wii a revolution and the new breakthrough in gaming that will usher in a new era of interactivity. I just haven't seen it... and the blockbuster titles for the Wii could have easily been done on the other consoles. The Wii certainly has fun titles... but could I please stop hearing how it will revolutionize gaming? At best, it will be a companion to traditional controller gameplay.
Valid argument... but with Wal-Mart's power and influence, I think it actually extends into censorship. Wal-Mart is SO influential when it comes to sales that, whatever Wal-Mart says, happens. Companies have to regularly edit CD album covers, lyrics and tone down lyrics JUST to get into Wal-Mart. I can't find the numbers, but I've seen that Wal-Mart sells a significant number of all CDs sold... so when Wal-Mart says they have to airbrush a bikini onto White Zombie's 'Super Sexy Swingin' Sounds' album, I'd say that Wal-Mart is engaged in censorship simply because of their sheer influence and clout. If your local CD store says it won't carry a CD because it is explicit or the cover is inappropriate (to them), then the CD just won't be there and you'll have to shop elsewhere. BUT when Wal-Mart says it won't carry a CD for explicit reasons, and it forces the artist/producer to return and change the product to fit Wal-Marts morality views... I would definitely call that censorship.

In GTA you run around breaking the law, consorting with whores and fellons, and killing people in bloody episodes.
Didn't Moses do the same thing?
Wasn't this the same instruction that had previously been overturned in another pending case... that the RIAA kindly forgot to mention to the court in this particular case?
Could be...

This was first documented in 1988, but they don't want you to know about it.
Someone has to count all that money.
I am greatly looking forward to this, as split screen even on 56 inch plasma is like kissing your sister
Hot?

Correct, but I'll allow it because it paints the defendant as a cheat and a liar.

Fascinating, truly fascinating! Source?
Like comment on Slashdot about spending money on Habbo Hotel :P

Is that what they're calling this? I guess I'm old fashioned... I like my comedy, well, funny :P
Actually, I have a bad shoulder and swinging the remote around isn't my idea of fun.
