While expensive, I don't think MS will be the one taking the hit on the price here. My guess is their deal with IBM in regards to the CPU is something along the lines of X patents, and then Y USD per core. That way, IBM will take the financial hit - though I'm sure MS have a bunch of patents that would be worth it.
Those are indeed the forums I'm talking about;) <-- oscar the ban-happy swede I only found him annoying when I was the one having to clean up his shit.. These days, I'm hoping to catch glimpses of him online.. that little guy sure knew how to troll.. and god bless him for hours of entertainment;P
Actually, BT seem to care about their customers... a bit, at least. A few years ago, I ran a semi-large gaming-forum (it was considered a bad day if we had less than 6k new posts). If I recall correctly we had about 5000 users coming from BT.
We had a regular Troll lurking around (Hi Alpha5!), but one day we got bored of just banning him, his accounts and so on, so we contacted BT's abuse-desk to see if they could cut off his access.
Nothing happened...... until we blocked anyone with an IP-address belonging to BT from accessing the site, with a nice error message, stating that if they wanted to have access to the site again, they would do well to contact BT customer-support and mention their problem.
Two hours later, I had some upper-level abuse contact at BT calling me in the afternoon, asking me to please remove the block.
After mentioning the problem, he said he would immediately have a look at the problematic user's account and see what he could do.
We had a blissful month of the troll not showing up after that:)
From memory, the name of the game was actually Teräs Käsi.
I remember thinking about the game about a week ago, and how it was strange that it had a Finnish-sounding name.
Maybe i was just under the alcofluence of too much incahol.
Nice troll, troll. When you transfer a domain, you pay the renewal fee of one year. It doesn't cost you anything extra - I would know, I recently transfered three domains to them from netsol. If you have a valid account for the domain, you can transfer without the slightest problem. If you've forgotten your account details, don't have access to the email address associated with the account etc, you have to update by fax. Just like with your precious netsol. $8.whatever / year is what the domain costs with godaddy. You'll get it even cheaper right now (sub $4 iirc) if you purchase one or more of their other services.
What it boils down to is that it is *not* illegal (in sweden) to tell people *where* you get ahold of illegal material.
It is also *not* illegal to host the location (physically speaking) where illegal activities take place.
In other words, if I run a bar, and Joe The Pimp sells his Bitches in my bar, I'm not the one in trouble.
I'm not sure who their legal counsel is, but since the Pirate Bay people are related to Piratbyrån (group of activists), I'm fairly sure it's not advise from mom/dad.
If there wasn't a serious backing of the statements made by Pirate Bay, I think Piratbyrån would stay very far away from them.
It's perfectly legal (currently) to download music etc. While it isn't legal to distribute copyrighted material without a license to do so, I'm not sure that "bits and pieces" of protected work are protected.
What you're actually saying is that people who do not spread copyrighted material, do not do anything illegal - should be convicted of crime.
You're the real asshole in this story. Arrogant to no end, you seem to think that your "moral high-ground" allows you to slander the laws of a country currently being supportive of the digital lifestyle.
I eagerly await your response, along with a -1 moderation.
This is not an interesting question. XP x64 is OEM-only. In other words, Dell, Gateway (are they still in business?, HP, IBM etc. can package whatever they want on the so-called "Recovery Discs" they ship.
On the other hand, apps like CenterStage will probably make use of CoreImage/CoreVideo. Thumbnailing out album-art (probably with a nice and shiny jewel case layer above each?) when browsing songs or similar.
Of course, since I don't have a Mini, I don't know how well the Mini would cope with these things.
That said, when buying a rig - even if it's for $700 (thanks,.eu), I want it to ba a little future-proof.
When a programmable GPU is present, Core Image utilizes the graphics card for image processing operations, freeing the CPU for other tasks. And if you have a high-performance card with increased video memory (VRAM), you'll find real-time responsiveness across a wide variety of operations.
Core Image-capable graphics cards include:
* ATI Mobility Radeon 9700
* ATI Radeon 9600 XT, 9800 XT, X800 XT
* nVidia GeForce FX Go 5200
* nVidia GeForce FX 5200 Ultra
* nVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL, 6800 GT DDL
Nice troll buddy. Where were the SATA chipsets when NT4, Windows 98, Win2k or even WinXP was released? That's right, they weren't.
On the other hand, it's not up to MS to package their system for use on All Computers.
I've got a shiny little (sata-only) dell at work, and guess what the dell oem version of windows xp does? Bingo, it installs on sata drives without a problem.
Why? Because in this case, the distributor included sata support.
There's a difference between whining about support for new pieces of hardware, and whining about support for hardware that's been out for a while now.
Not. Enough. Deodorant.

Linux on AMD in Dell on the Desktop!
Who'da thunk it?!
2005 is shaping up nicely!
My shiny new (thank you ebay!) MS Natural Keyboard Pro thanks you for its nice fresh covering of lasagna.
ASS.
I don't know, I'd prefer seeing people with attractive licenses get the good money to do something awesome.
The licenses are what draw customers.
I know I'd rather play Dragonlance Online than Dragon Saga VII Online.
Maybe that's just me?
From memory, the name of the game was actually Teräs Käsi. I remember thinking about the game about a week ago, and how it was strange that it had a Finnish-sounding name. Maybe i was just under the alcofluence of too much incahol.
Where said that?
Sure, just wait for tomorrow's dupe.
What? 3.5 Billion SEK spent on toll-systems in central Stockholm isn't money well-spent? Hmm, maybe you're on to something.
Nice troll, troll.

Wait a minute or two and you'll see Apple-apologists mention how it's much more expensive to ship things to .au

Real overlords use fluxbox
Like all GUI masters, he uses frames!
DUH!!
Hmm.. "Offtopic"?
Come on mods, we all know he was being Insightful when calling the AC an idiot, as well as what CoreImage can be used for!

What I want to know is when the Mac Mini gets updated with a graphics card that CoreImage can use to its full extent.
Nice troll buddy.

Maybe I'm just screwed up after work, but that sounds a lot like mr goatse
