And I tought my first PC-XT, with 256 KILObytes of RAM, had little memory..:P
Test Drive and Karateka runned fine, but I had to add 256KB more later to be able to play Battle Chess and Grand Prix.
The best part was the AT keyboard that came with (they went out of XT keyboards), one the best keyboards I've seen in my life, and is still being used (now by my sister) and working fine, 15 years latter.
Vim is charityware. Its license is GPL-compatible, so it's distributed freely, but we ask that if you find it useful you make a donation to help children in Uganda through the ICCF.
If you like Total Annihilation, perhaps you would like to know Palito, a free RTS game being developed by fans of TotalA.
It's still very imature, the graphics are kinda crappy (they're focusing more on the engine for now), but looks promising. They have a nice feature comparision table with TotalA and other RTS games.
BSP is not a format, it's an algorithm! In fact it's a spacial data strucutre (a space structure, like a double-liked list, a binary tree, etc, that uses spatial information to arrange the data).
That was the last good adventure I played, and a very good one indeed.
I even played the localised (Brazilian) version, and it was surprisingly good (I usually prefer the original versinos).
The jazz soundtrack was very good also. I still have some/musicas/jazz/Grim\ Fandango/*.mp3
Sure there are many others, but X-COM UFO intro came to my mind.. (but don't remember if it was the I or the II) simple but nice done. Alice was nice too..
That's the main reason why I stopped play CS and came back to Quake3Arena.
Two seconds for a respawn is just not fast enough! (click-click-click-click-click.. waiting eternal two seconds)
In Couter Strike the most important thing is not to die. In Quake, the most important thing is to kill. Your life has (almost) no value, killing is important. No matter if you die too.
I just remembered an old English class (I'm brazilian) when I was a child. I still remember it word by word: - Hi - Hi - My name is Myke. What's your name? - My name is Bill. - Are you Peggy? - Yes, I am. - Are you Vicky? - Yes, I am. - Come here. Let's sing. - All right
I recently played XKobo, a very addictive yet simple game, that reminds me of old classig games. But I haven't found a homepage or much more info.
They're listed at the Happy Penguin site.
For you looking for inovation in RTS, take a look at Total Annihilation. It's old, but rather unoticed game, by far the best gameplay and replayability in this genre. There are so many inovations, and the battles are much more realistic.
Such as the Koules I've mentioned, RTS games, Total Annihilation being the best on this genre (I know there are 3D RTS games, but they suck, RTS is meant to be 2D. Just as you mentioned, gameplay is influenced by the camera view), or even 2D scroller shooters. I loved GTA2, but hated GTA3.. It's not that I don't like 3D, the game I play most is still Quake3.
Of course they're not dead. That's bullshit. It's not that 3D games are better then 2D ones, they're just different. Many 2D games have great gameplay experience that can't be reproduced in 3D at all.
One great game I played (to the end of it's 100 levels) was Koules.

Dumb moderators..
I found that funny.
There is an open-source effort to create a game similar to TotalA. It's a bit stalled, looks like the developers took a little vacation, but it's not dead at all .. just resting ;)
Have you ever heard of the <TT> tag?
He just mentioned Trillian. The point is the dumb consumism of your capitalist society.
Paying for IM is like paying for breathing air.
You know:
- When you are young, you have time and energy, but no money
- When adult, you have energy and money, but no time
- When old, you have money, time, but no energy.

do they insist in thinking that life developed elsewhere must be anything like earth's life?
Rally-X theme (.SAM format)

You didn't got the joke. :) but you got the point.. Now you got it, right?
He was talking about this.
(Well, not exactly that..

These games don't need a storyline.
