    Question:

    I HATE hot coffee. I HATE hot liquids. To me , warm (40ish) coffee is the way to go.

    Only one detail missing:

    Drug research involves real (high) risks to people, real (high) costs to the company, etc

    Wanna work in Linux, a computer and a internet link and you're good to go.

    Wanna test a drug, you have to test it on people. These people may suffer side effects (requiring care = $$), or even die ($$$$$). Also you have to evaluate the resolts ($$$$$)

    Wanna produce a drug, you have to study several ways to produce it (requiring chemicals = $$) and have the equipment ($$$$), produce it ($$$$$), etc

    I'm all for cheap meds, but unlike software, it costs a lot to come up with it and produce it. Public funding may help, of course.

    Curiously, there is no Inculpate in my dictionary (ok, it has been a dissapointment for a 80k dictionary), but it has exculpate (to prove or state officially that somebody is not guilty of someting)

    Thankfuly, I had good/great managers for the past years, so here's a couple of ideas.

    1 - Does ho know the basis of Software Project Management? Something like Mythical Man-Month, Agile or classical methodologies (yes, they stink). What do you do if the estimate and deadline don't match, etc.

    2 - What about classical project management skills: PMBOK, etc

    3 - "Common Sense" - this is the hard part. Maybe throw a couple of what-if scenarios to him, check he's not a jerk or a numb manager, etc, etc

    Don't use crap programmed in the last century. "Windows 64 Can't run 16 bit apps" is that supposed to be a problem? For me it is a true blessing.

    Seriously people, even though the entire industry touts the "backward compatibility" mantra, in fact it doesn't work like that.

    Upgrading the software usually improves functioning in a lot of ways. Memory usage, processor functions, SECURITY, etc

    (And the next guy who asks me why their COBOL/CLIPPER/etc application from 20 yrs ago run like crap on their state of the art compter gets bitchslapped!)

    IT DOESN'T BLOODY FUCKING MATTER!!!!!!!

    That's like, 1% of all operations.

    Whenever I open a Java program here, my machine gets completely hosed. EVERY TIME. It's worse than big memory consumers than, let's say, Firefox.

    CPU usage goes through the roof. Memory usage - ditto. Even a stupid java applet runs very slowly.

    NO interpreted / JIT language sucks AS MUCH. NOT EVEN .NET, fer xhrist's sake.

    Oh yeah I forgot, Java is an "enterprise" technology. You need big servers, big iron to run the programs (that would run perfectly in a 10 y. old machine had they not been written by a bunch of retarded monkeys in java)

    But hey, I got surprised, I didn't even know the Java programmers knew what a "processor" was...

    The U.S. gov. CAN'T give another country's nationality to a person. Hence, the U.S. gov. CAN'T say "This baby is Mexican", the only g.v that can say that is Mexico's
