Dell is doing the same old game from too much time: they say they are considering AMD options, just to ask better conditions from Intel; the next day, they will restart bashing AMD products.
AMD should issue a statement saying that for the next xx months they will not even consider selling any CPUs to Dell!:-P
Windows Update for Adware/Malware, targeted for a summer release. Include technologies to enable quick blind-install, without any user intervention and notifications, for maximum convenience.
> Is this a testament to how far the Pentium Mobile architecture has come, or a sad comment on the clockspeed-pushing design of the Pentium 4?
No, it's probably only a testament on not showing enough info about the benchmark system/conditions to provide any useful technical data, but only marketing data. Who know? Maybe the game was simply framerate limited by the similar integrated graphics chipset.
I'm not saying that the Pentium M isn't fast, or as fast as a desktop P4; only that probably that demo don't prove that. Just my 2c.
Off course, my freeware TrID file identifier is a must!
How you can possible live without using it?:)
Jokes apart, I think/hope it could really be useful to someone. Whenever you have a file with an unknown extension, or badly renamed, and so on, it may be of some help location the correct app to open/run a certain file.
What damn rights Microsoft thinks to have on TCP/IP, DNS?? They even admitted in the past, in a way or the other, to have waited a bit too much to jump on the internet band-wagon...
Also this thread on MASM forum could be of interest. It was started by Steve Bush himself, and there are a lot of discussions & examples from the point of view of the ASM programmer (but not only that): The WIZ - a new and radical processor architecture
P.S. I'm not associated with Mr. Bush in any way; I simply like this kind of things.
It remaind me of an HP project named Dynamo. It allowed to translate and existing binary at runtime, eveng gaining some performance in the process. The demo/test was demonstrated on a PA8000 (IIRC). So it got PA8K ASM in, digested it (!), and come out with different PA8K ASM. Every translated block (to a branch point) was cached and reused if possible. All with minimum overhead.
Francesco Carucci talk about his work at LH and on B&W2 in an interview on an italian videocards website. Even if you can't read italian, the screenshots are worth a look!
The store will also be in beta mode, lacking some of the features that will be added later, sources said.
But don't worry. Just some minor functionalities are missing, like the ability to hear the songs, or download them.

Maybe we should start with/. Why not give away a @slashdot.org JID with a subscription... I might actually buy one then. Strike a blow for open standards!
Other clients will not be a problem. Google can simply implement a web based client, and put targeted Ads on that.
Aside from the web client, one can then freely connect with any Jabber client he want/like, if & when he'll find that more convenient.
I just hope that Google launch a Jabber based IM system; it will be a major boost to the adoption of Jabber's servers as an open standard.
It could also seamlessy integrated with GMail, using the same id both as the e-mail address and as JID.

Eighty-four percent did not know that phishing describes faked e-mail scams.

I don't think the wording used in the second part will really appear clearer than the first one...

It's a drastic departure from common CPUs. Definitely intresting.
