I'll reproduce for you what I left in the comments of that Anandtech report.
Uh, this "protection" crap is making me sick.
And so is this vision of the future where I have even less control over my machines and the data in my possession.
Media (Ed. note: plural of medium) matter more than ever in culture, and you are going to hand over control to entities whose sole responsibility is to make money, in effect, giving up control of your culture? You are going to let someone who doesn't care what you believe in manage how you make sense of the world?
Think. Please. Think about what is going on. You choose what you want, but consider what it is you are slated to lose and how important that is to you.
Sometimes I think they don't care. Sometimes I think that they just don't put two and two together. For whatever reason, they do not see this as a problem of much urgency.
A key to getting games to come to Linux may be to convince game developers to use OpenGL and SDL. This will surely eliminate some of the cost of porting (YMMV). Anything that reduces the cost of a port makes a port more likely. So if any of you out in SlashLand have it in with some game developers (hey, it could happen), see if you can put in a good word for OpenGL and SDL.

Yeah, I guess so. The important thing is to turn USE flags (that's the portage term, right?) into checkboxes that say something like what's on screenshot 3 at http://xfce-installers.os-cillation.com/, and dependency checking into something that looks like screenshot 2. Basically, give an interface that the rest of the world is familiar with (the installation wizard), but tie it in with the disto's package management system, and/or build from source.

The front-end could be customized by each distro to create packages in its native form if desired. It should depend on some simple widget set, maybe even Xlib, and not GTK+ or Qt.
It doesn't have to be for essential things like glibc, bash, or other such text-based programs. Maybe the X server itself and up should be buildable by this system.
The name of the planet on which this mission is occurring is "Mars," after the Roman god of war. The male symbol is a traditional symbol of Mars. Therefore, that symbol is relevant.
Of course I'm glad that graphics are becoming more realistic, but that's not good for every game. Who really wants to play a game starring an overweight plumber or an actual hedgehog.
Perhaps you missed the point of this article. This is not about graphical realism, this is about graphic style. Details, not truth to actual reality, make the style.
You know, I may oogle over video game and cartoon women, but at least I have the decency to do it in private or among other pervs, and to not broadcast it on TV.

There may be a link; but once again, correlation != causation.
Some politician probably hatched the idea to give himself some kind of boost, whether power or money or whatever. It's one in a series of technological red herrings, back-room deals, and stupidities that politicians here have started. Don'tbelieveme?
I would think that cases with a window on the side and a switchable light is within the bounds of good taste and certainly not ricing, nor is adding extra fan mounts.
Either that, or turn the case into a work of art, instead of a bunch of blinking crap. I know there are very good mods out there with actual themes, and those are acceptable too.

I agree. If TV show boxed sets were half the price / season they are now, I just might buy them instead of using BitTorrent.

Please, show me a terrorist who would attack anything in Greenwich, CT over in New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., or any other major metropolitan area in the US.
And have you checked out their website? They have such genuinely useful things as e-mail notification of town emergencies to any affected residents. Please tell me that some of you also think that to be a marginal waste of resources. And what's this crap on the front page about needing permission to reproduce the town seal? Apparently the fair use train doesn't make stops in Greenwich also.
Congratulations, Greenwich, CT: you have successfully pissed me off.
I'm going to sleep now. Good morning, and good riddance.

Don't we have that already in SDL?

It gives me hope that there is still a future (that doesn't suck) for video and computer games.
The question then arises: Are they going to do hands-on research, or are they merely going to review others' data?
