Likelihood of misuse by large, multi-national corporations. Such a thought is, of course, unthinkable.
Availability of oversight facilities. There are those who would
corrupt our morals motivated as they are by a hatred of the
freedom of Internet access with which we are graced. We place a
significant burden of responsibility on those who guard our
community from these evil-doers and it is only fitting that we
give them as much support as is possible. Therefore, all
encryption and obfuscation techniques MUST be excluded -
individuals who have nothing to hide need to fear the oversight of
those whose morals are beyond doubt.

Uhm... Then how come I've been using these functions? They must be figments of my imagination! When I compile my source the code fairies must have magically removed them! It's the only viable explanation.
The robot is controlled by an integral Pentium based computer. It uses a modular payload system offering standard (USB, Ethernet) communications and networking.
I get this mental picture of some sneaky terrorist with a Sony Vaio sneaking up to one of these packbots and plugging in his cat5...
I'm not trolling I just have an honest question...
When that big lump of ice out there in the North Pole melts, will we *notice* it at all?
My reasoning is that most of the ice is underwater, and ice takes up more cm than water, so there would be a smaller volume of water than there is ice. Sure some of the ice is above sealevel but surely the difference in volume compensates for this?
Why can't we linux folk have a nice, sexy installer like that? Or do we already? Don't get me wrong, but sometimes, I'm just too lazy to read instructions and at times like that a GUI installer could be the ideal solution...
You only agree to the EULA when you click the "I Agree" button right? Could this be the start of 3rd party (possibly, Open Source) installers for games, applications,...?
I still remember my first experience on a Redhat box. Being my usual 14 year old arrogant self I figured that I didn't have to read any manuals. Hey I figured out DOS by myself, right?
So I type in "X". "Hey wtf this stupid shit is broken, all I see is a grey background and some fucking weird cross? huh? linux sucks".

In other news, there are some benchmarks on AMD's dualcore Opteron: http://episteme.arstechnica.com/eve/ubb.x?a=dl&s=5 0009562&f=174096756&x_id=1097194717&x_subject=Opte ron+dual-core+details+emerge&x_link=http://arstech nica.com&x_ddp=Y/
It appears AMD designed the Opteron from ground up to be dualcore.
