not that i approve such censorship, but i can understand it. when we see historic movies and play historic video games, it's only natural to believe it to a certain point.

take gladiator for example, the first time i saw it i thought it was more or less accurate, but i have read in many places how inaccurate it is.

bottom line, i don't agree with it, but it isn't ridiculous, they do have a point.

    you missed mine.

in my opinion there are too many office products to compete with MS. they need to work together, especially a common save file format.

we have .abw for abiword, .swx for oo.o, something else for kword,

IMHO they should work together to come with an open format common for all office programs, eg, something like .owf (open write format).

i know each support other formats, but sometimes there is a feature or two difference, leads to incompatibilities

how do you feel about spam and the weaknesses that spam reveals in popular mail protocols?

personally i feel it does reveal the weakness in the current email system. there is little accountability for who sends what email, all you have to work with is the smtp server used and ip it was sent from, any from: address can be forged.

you make a good point, but the reason this is different is we can't do anything about the email system. we are using SMTP protocol and we're going to stick with that for at least a long while more! therefore until we change this, we must combat spam and spammers

OTOH, microsoft has a great amount of power and money to work with their operating system to fix any security flaws/vulnerability in it. and they must do it.
