    your comparison is flawed. the difference is if everyone locked their doors, burglary would still happen, but if nobody replied to spam, them spam would (eventually) stop.

    Google Maps and Google Local (thus Google Ride Finder too) are available only for US citizens.

    actually, both are available at least in canada.
    ride finder isn't (at least not yet), maybe this will change?

    also, you must take into account that taxis are not highly used in some cities, and such a service just might not be worth it.

    OTOH, would be cool to hook up to a WAP from your PDA/etc and find the closest taxi :)

    If anything it accelerated the use of Linux, so it is one of the best things that ever happened to the operating system.

    Uh, no, the SCO thing had no effect on this, it would have happened either way.

    If anything, the only good thing about this whole SCO fiasco is we had someone to laugh at during a rainy day.

    we don't pay for downloading, if we buy something online though, we usually already pay tax when we purchase it.

    isn't really a complete indication of heat though

    remember, it's a job, it pays the rent, and unless you actually hated it, you should have kept it.

    anyways, you can still honour your ethics and values when contributing to open source projects.

    i think he is referring to public high schools, which ARE quite horrible in america.

    here in canada, we have a 1-tier school system (as well as health btw), all normal schools are public, and it works out quite well. note though: our taxes are very high compared to the US.

    remember, this is designed in india, where windows are almost always open, or you are in an open rickshaw (enough wind!).

    sticking your hand out there (in that case, anywhere in a car) is very dangerous, and i'm guessing no, you can't sue them.

    Eventually there should be three licenses: The GPL, a commercial version of the GPL, and, of course, there will be the BSD because you can't rid of it.

    because you can't get rid of it, first of all, what does it mean exactly? getting 'rid' of BSD is just as possible as any other license. this isn't quite clear

    secondly, 'a commercial version of the GPL' , is an oxymoron, there are many clauses in the GPL which prevent GPL software to be ideal for commercial software; i mean sure, the GPL allows it, but in practice, there are too many restrictions to make it attractive.
