    No you would continue to get coffee for as cheap as possible and get all of the benefit that you could and then as coffee prices started to rise indicating the growing shortage, you would begin to start looking to grow the tea alternative to begin replacing coffee.

    Shit I shelled out $400 for my iPod and I run with it all the time, without problems. It has enough RAM in it to read about 25 minutes ahead, which is about how long I spend on the treadmill, so it isn't always accessing the hard drive.

    You beg to differ? Just because you don't want a cellphone with a ton of features that you'll never use doesn't mean those phones aren't dominating the market. I think if you walk in the store of any major cell phone provider you will see that they carry almost nothing but the phones with all of these extra features.

    Actually I am in favor for the electoral college because it helps to eliminate mass voter fraud. If the president was popularly elected, that means that every fraudulent vote counted in the election. With the electoral college in order for those votes to have an effect they have to be done in enough quantity in every district to throw the votes IN that district. Close elections will be easier to examine because then you only have to look at the places where the vote was close (like florida).

    I got sick of buying an new inkjet printer every year so I invested in a Samsung laser from Best Buy. It's linux compatible and so far it's worked perfectly (besides scaring the shit out of the cats when they step on the 'reprint' button), but we'll see in a year or two if it's still working.

    If your craving for White Castle burgers was serious enough to disrupt your work, social life, and/or sleep patterns, then arguably it could qualify as a disorder.

    It does disrupt work and your social life- I think the disorder is called diarrhea. :P

    White Castle burgers aren't called sliders without good reason.

    Nor is it flamebait, but this is slashdot after all. Minimum wage laws keep the unskilled and uneducated from getting jobs because their skills are not worth 5.15 an hour. So instead of them getting a job that pays less than that and allowing them to learn new skills, we tell them that they can't get a job at all.

    Reality is a troll, because a lot of people don't like it.

    I know a lot of people my age, and even people who are older who still really enjoy video games.

    I lost interest in them. Playing video games seems like such a chore. I get much more pleasure out of arguing with people on slashdot. :P

    Actually we've been having trouble keeping pringles in stock in the US since their only factory was damaged by a tornado earlier this year.

    So I don't think we will be dumping pringles on Zimbabwe anytime soon. :p

    Does anyone really believe that agriculture subsidies have anything to do with the free market?

    I've heard the false claims that these subsidies are for our own good, and to "protect" the farmers, but I don't think I've ever heard someone say that they were in the name of the free market.

    Because the US government subsidizes food production, prices of foods are kept artificially high. I don't doubt that the cost of living in many third world nations would allow them to produce food at a much lower cost than we can here in the US. It's silly for us to waste economic resources producing things that someone else could produce cheaper (assuming the quality was the same or better).

    Government funded research is what pours billions upon billions into all those useless studies we hear about all the time.

    Handing out checks for research without requiring that the money be paid back somehow is usually a huge waste to society. It gives these scientists the freedom to pursue whatever the hell they feel like even if it benefits no one.

    "They don't understand research any more than you do; long term for them is a six month product cycle."

    If you really believe that, then you are incredibly ignorant of reality and history. Corporations fund long term research ALL THE TIME. Your condescending view of private investment is unfounded.
