Years ago, local computer shop where I purchased Windows 3.1 sold me an OEM copy, complete with box.
I did not realize what this was fully at the time. Until I called Microsoft for technical support. I got the third degree on version specifics, where I purchased it, exactly, the date, CD access codes, etc. I did finally get the help I needed but, found out a year or two later that this local computer shop was no longer in business. Not sure if it was due to this particular situation or not, but kind of odd coincidence.
The jailing of somone simply being a suspect in a crime, IMHO, is the grossest form of injustice in the world today.
As a related item, people being accused of a crime, in some cases, even lose their jobs and their lives completely ruined only to have the charges dropped later or to be found not guilty of the crimes they were charged with.
In the U.S. and other "free" countries, I just cannot wrap my wits around why this is tolerated by the powers that be and the citizenry at all.
In many ways, at least in the U.S. and, it is becoming increasingly so, if a person is accused of a crime (or crimes), a person is effectively treated as if they are guilty. Loss of jobs, families, property, etc. just going through the judicial process is punishment, to a great degree IMHO. If the person happens to have the charges dropped or be found not guilty, there is almost no recourse for the "life or property lost" as a result of the process they were put through. Lip service is paid to "innocent until proven guilty", in a very big way in this regard.
The money " the government" (your, mine and others tax dollars) are already spent way to much useless crap as it is. I do not want subsidized boxes for "the poor", etc. That's just nuts.
If it affects so few people, then fine, it affects a few people. If they want it, they will work out getting it, somehow, some way. But you and I and others should not have to pay for it. There are other things like this that "the government" should not be throwning money at, but that's a whole nuther big can 'o worms.
I have used Firefox for over a year now. It is a "little" slower at startup than IE. But after that, I see no performance difference between the two, whatsoever.
But, I am running them on a 3.02 GHz CPU with 1 GB RAM system, Win XPee. However, my 2.2 GHz AMD CPU wiht 1.5 GB of RAM, Win2K. No performance difference after initial startup that I can see.
Nah, AMD is looking for a settlement which includes agreements by Intel (without admitting any illegal activity) that they will stop their anti-trust violating practices (well, maybe not in those exact words).
It all just looks like a game to hold Intel off a bit, get them to settle with an acceptable agreement to both sides, some money in AMD coffers, then they both go on their merry way.
EverQuest (the first one) has been charging monthly subscription fees since, what, 1996?
So, with WoW and EverQuest, it is not new, new more of the same.
I sometimes look at my subscription fees as a "monthly maintenance" cost, get upgrades, etc. But I also get the possibility of being totally hosed by SoE also. Mostly good, sometimes a serious gamble. (Reference to release of Gates of Discord where a number of people could not log in for a day or more right after that expansion was released. Needless to say, some people were a bit miffed).
Blake: "We at (new)SCO do not necessarily have issues with being weasels, we just have an issue with being weasals with the F/OSS community calling us out on that fact".
Or...
Blake: "We at (new)SCO do not necessarily have issues with being complete fscking customer (and previous customer) suing scumbags, we just have an issue with many people making our true identity easily seen by millions, thereby depriving us of untold ba-zillins in SCOSOURCE license fees. Pay up you hippie commie Linux zealots!"
I never had a problem with Earthlink technical support prior to them switching to call centers in India.
Line noise problem, English comprehension problems and total fscking robots reading scripts despite nothing changing on your system since the last time you called (day before), but being told they have to re-check everything again, ad naseum.
Fortunately, the issue was resolved and I have not have to deal with these morons for almost a year and a half now.
I handle technical support at my place of work, and if I handled support even slightly similarly to how these Earthlink techs did, I would be out of a job, pronto.
Good technical support personnel are worth their weight in gold, bad or very untrained ones can piss off and lose you customers faster than you can gain new customers, every time.
China is also part of the U.N. and, as a member, subscribes to the United Nations Declaratio on Human Rights.
And, as a result, they should not be censoring their own citizens right to speak freely, etc.
Google for "United Nations Declaration on Human Rights" some time, read it, and then look at what is espoused in that document and what member countries of the United Nations are actually DOING. Particularly, countries that are members of the security council.
What is "said" and what is "done" (or not done) are two differen things.
Microsoft should not be assisting the Chinese government in this, even remotely, and the fact that they are, speaks volumes to me about what Microsoft management things is right and proper, ethical and "good for all".
I watch maybe 35 hours of T.V. a year (professional and college football mainly), equaling about 0.09 hours of T.V. watching per day.
Most of my work time and off work time is spent on a computer and about 3/4ths of that is involved with surfing the web, handling e-mail, chatting, playing games, etc.
I lost interest in T.V. when I had over 78 cable channels (five years ago) and, for me, was constantly amazed that there was nothing on, or of any interest to me at all.
IMHO, T.V. is currenting dying a slow and painful (i.e. reality shows) death.
Screw that. Why should FireFox (Mozilla) pay the fees to sign such stuff that is, pretty much, just window dressing? It makes no sense, at all.
And anyone with half a wit in regards to using a computer and downloading software would be able to get FireFox downloaded and installed, whether via IE or not.
Put the koolaid down on the table... slowly. Good.
Now put your hands in the air and back away from the table, nice and easy like.
The thought of having my dangling gapfiller pulled out by forceps or (gasp) cut off by a makeshift hack saw is just unnerving.

In Hebrew, per the former wife, the word "kia" means "throw up" or "regurgitate".
As a result, I do not thing you will ever see a Kia vehicle sold in Israel (but I could be wrong).
Just think, people could on a "Puke Serento".
I have heard of these T.V.s....

on the T.V.s in this country would be a good thing.
People might read a book, go out and see a live theatrical performance or, heck, even talk with their spouse, children, friends, etc.
I say, just pull the plug on T.V. all together and make the U.S. a better place as a result.
Well, other than professional football, please leave that on T.V., please, I beg you!
I DM'd late 1970's to early 1980's.
I quit because, it be came work and was not fun any more. I had to spend hours getting game together, adventures, random monster tables, etc.
I wanted a game where this could all be generated so I could actually "have fun", which is how it used to be when I first started to play.
Now, with the adult restraints on my time, I do occasionally play an MMORPG, I have fun and do not have to "work at it".
Just hope that the people that still play the "table" version have fun doing so!

The list has one more product now also, "LiveMeeting", which was "PlaceWare" till Microsoft purchased them a year or more ago.
Answer:
No. This isn't the article your'e looking for. You can go about your business. Move along, move along. :P
technically, IT IS VAPORWARE!
Promises, RSNs (real soon now[s]), etc. do not change that at all.
Fuck off and die!

O.K., do I puke now or should I wait?
I have some skin, nail and hair samples of Britney Spears when she was 18.
I want to clone her for a pet. /purrrrrrrrrr

If I recall right, Ubisoft handles sales of EQ, EQ2 and, possibly, handles subscriptions for those games in Europe, I could be wrong though.
I did get Myst IV, awesome game, very enjoyable.
Hope EA does not take over Ubisoft, but seem like it might be pushing in that direction.
