The article refers to recovery without paving, not that the entire system is actually physically destroyed and must be replaced with a new physical pc.
But there is a download manager of sorts in the Freenet client. If you want to download a file, it'll generate a refreshing page that shows the progress of the download. It'll be written to disk directly, or sent to the browser to handle, depending on what you choose. It's only for splitfiles, of course, not webpages, which is perhaps what you want?
Perhaps the best description of what Web 2.0 is the name Web 2.0 itself. Look at how it goes around, from site to site, blog to blog, gathering new meanings and connotations as it is filtered through hundreds of meaningless tech-blogs. This is perhaps why so few people understand it:
Q: So what's this Web 2.0 thing, anyway?
A: What do you mean, "what is it"? It's Web 2.0, that's all it is! Don't you get it? It's brilliant!"
Kind of like those interesting circular linkages. Link 2.0.
Well, as far as I know, prayer does work, where prayer = caring. In other words, the psychological effect of knowing that you're being looked after will improve your odds of resisting infections by boosting the immune system. So, perhaps this study shows that this effect doesn't occur when it's not the immune system that's having problems. Ok, it's still obvious, but nevertheless.
I don't mean that it's the prayer that helps of course, but rather that the person who prays also cares for, handles, and nurses the patient. Just praying is hardly going to help me when I'm sick, I'd just tell the idiot to shut up.
Is it just me or are there no comments in this story?
In any case, how would the nanobots produce the propellant fluid, they'd have to be able to consume something? Perhaps they're counting taking in and storing some available fluid while passing through, like in the human blood stream, or somesuch.
I don't follow the latest hits, I have no idea who you're talking about, I haven't heard it before, but having just listened to 'Crazy', I think it's pretty good stuff.
Some slashdotters seem to think: popular song == bad; popular song that makes a lot of money on sales == t3h evil/RIAA(or equivalent)/worthless sell-out.
On the other hand, the GP does have a certain point, in that popular music will be popular, regardless on distribution method, regardless of vain lock-in. Or rather, popular music will be distributed no matter how locked.
Yep, the bar close to the water level, in the back freezer, on top of the stacked boxes and through those tunnels. But you need some kind of swimming aid, I usually have a trained level, and pick up the rebreathers in the box when you drop in the water. There's a dead scientist lying about in one end of the big tunnels who has it. IIRC you can get a nano canister with the same upgrades at another place too, so you don't have to get it there.
Yes, I've played Deus Ex far too many times already, and now I got inspired to play it yet another time with a different tactic, dammit. It's too good for my own good!
But you have to admit that staring at all the pink and the "OMG!!! Ponies!!! <3" was a surprise. I know it shocked me at first even though I was fully prepared for something silly. I mean, site layout changes on April 1st are common... but ponies on slashdot!?
Actually, it's kind of refreshing to have a day of general mayhem to weed out the people who are too stuck up for their own good. I have only two things to say: Good riddance, and OMG PON1ES!! xoxo
On a more serious note, this might be be a good day to study how some people are able to take things in stride and play along, while others have difficulties coping with perceived "childish" things. I've always thought that those who still have their inner child within them are happier people.. life is only an insignificant play anyway.
A note to slashdotters: If you feel an urge to point out right now that/. is for "stuff that matters. Only!" then you're kind of missing it.
On a completely different note: pink is actually a pretty cool color. This theme is meant as cutey-pink of course, but otherwise pink seems somehow underutilized these days in many respects because of it's perceived cutesy-ness. Just for reference, pink hasn't always been a "girl colour", it has been a masculine colour in the past.
I am truly amazed that the parent post managed to squeeze through the lameness filter.. I must temporarily release my limiters to test this new development.

Thank you, I shall now lock this spirit in me back inside its cage for yet another 1000 years.
I wonder when the first virus will appear that installs a rootkit in any OS's on other partitions as well.
It's "spam", not "SPAM".
Perhaps some parents don't realize or know just how violent a game can be these days. It doesn't come up on the threat radar.
It's "spam", not "SPAM". They're not the same thing.
TFA talks about a carpenter, I have no idea where the lumberjack came from.

I don't see anyone talking about the pharma/chemical industry and their patents. Different strokes for different fields, I say.

But they need to be enforced sometimes, no?
Are you saying it costs $2 just to withdraw money?
Additionally, if you manage to chop your own hand off, you've failed a test, but a different one.

Nah, he's just drunk. It was somewhere in another comment from him.

Until next time, pink theme! Until next time!
I kinda like it, except for the links. Can we get this as a permanent choice?
