    There are many way to proxy around firewalls. IMHO the solution would be to stop the censorship, not find other way around it. Although the more ways people can get around the censorship the better.

    While I think the discussions are good to have, I don't think most of these concerns are all that worrisome. There are a bunch of privacy issues, but that is going to be the case with any company that deals with that much data. Also, Google is the only search company that didn't roll over and give up their data at the first request of the US government. There are not that many 'no-cost' services that are willing to pay lawyers to fight for their user's privacy.

    I remember a similar study where a culture with only four words for colors could still distinguish different 'English' colors. It doesn't seem too surprising that it may take them a little longer.

    I had an older GPS receiver that couldn't' get accurate altitude readings. I believe it sacrificed height for better Long/Lat readings from the satellites that were more overhead. But this may be different with newer receivers.
