But, in about another 3-5 years, bollywood will re-align some of their movies and will start targeting the hollywood crowd.
I don't think so. The story isn't what sells a movie. It's the star(s). It's been that way for a very long time.
When was the last (or first) time you've seen a Bollywood star with massive international appeal without the help of Hollywood? Marketing is what Hollywood does best. Bollywood's got a ways to go on that.
Sane computer users choose the software they want, not the software they don't hate.
Actually, he mentioned something that everyone else seems to be glossing over. He said "for free". Top that with something that you can't find on Windows (although you can find what he was looking for on Windows, just not cheaply), and that's also a pretty compelling reason.
you haven't a clue what you're talking about. if you think a city of 1.x million, which happens to be at the center of a metro area with a population of ~10 million can be considered a "richer neighborhood" then my only polite response is that you are just making this shit up to try to impress people
In comparison to much of the rest of the country, it is a "rich neighborhood". If you can't figure that out by the obvious real estate prices, then please search wikipedia for per capita and household incomes.
I say this as someone who lived in SF for twenty years and recently moved to Chicago.
Look, there are poor people in every major city across the country, because metro areas tend have the most resources to help poor people. But, compare SF with other metro areas, and yeah, it's a pretty rich county.
USA has fallen from 4th (previous year) to 16th (this year) place among countries that have broadband internet.
The US is a large place geographically. There are many, many places that still don't have access to broadband, yet do have phone access. Dial-up is quite alive and kicking in the US.
Unfortunately, the majority of people I've seen using push-to-talk are fairly abusive with it. There's really no reason people need to be having full-on conversations in walkie-talkie mode on public transportaion, which is quite common, unfortunately.
True, however, her character "Ernestine" predates SNL. She was performing Ernestine in 1968 on Laugh-in. Prior to "we don't car, we don't have to", it was "Reach out and bug someone".

In the 80's I remember, long distance calls were as high as 40 cents a minute. Not many people remember how ridiculous phone prices were.
The phones, however, were rock solid - and weighted 10 pounds. And they were replaced by Bell if they ever broke.
So although every time a cam-phone is mentioned on Slashdot someone brings up the 'mic and antenna' issue and how a 'phone should be just a phone', I really don't think these newer phones have a problem in that area any more.
I think the poster's point was that it was a camera/vidcam review, not a phone review. He's right. The review is all about the camera functions and not much else.

Can I actually INSTALL something on it? Starting with JUST a TARBALL? Good compiler support, *complete* library/header files/developer packages, basic development/scripting tools (Perl, Python, Tcl/Tk, libc)? Is "compile", formerly a given in the Linux world, considered a bad word in a Suse forum?
Yes, you can, easily. The one thing that'll throw you off: Even if you select "Everything" during the install, it won't install a lot of the dev libraries. No worries. They're on the DVD. You just have to either go back and install them after the fact, or during initial install, after checking "Everything", go into each individual group and make sure everything is checked off.
However, all linux distros could really use an upgrade path.
I successfully "upgraded" from Suse 9.3 to 10.0 last week.
It was the first real upgrade that's actually worked hassle-free, as opposed to upgrade, meaning backup-everything-and-selectively-restore-after-a- fresh-install.
Well, I did have to go into Sax2 and redo my resolution, but that was it. All my settings and programs continued to work just fine.
A lot of times (particularly all these tiny web apps), stored procedures aren't needed. But when you have this behemoth of an app (say, AR/AP/GL... very non-trivial stuff), that does the same thing in several different places, stored procedures are a godsend.
The US reckons that they are culturally diverse but they all seem like a bunch of racists.
I'm willing to bet that if you looked around without the rose-colored glasses you'd see a few racists within your community. The U.S. doesn't have a lock on that. There are racists in every country and culture.
does it tell you who they are or what they have planned for the future?
Actually, yes, it does tell you a fair bit about who they are and what their vision is. It's just not flashy. but all the information's right there on the first page.
I don't know about him, but the last time I checked, software installation in Linux was still a mess.
It's probably been a while... At least two distros that I have personally tried offer no-hassle package management and online upgrades: Suse and Ubuntu.
I invite you to try either one and say it's still a mess. If you still think it's a mess, you probably have other axes to grind.
I worked for an NBC affiliate in SF until the late 90's. The privately held company wanted to sell off its assets and were shopping for buyers. NBC came in and COMPLETELY changed the rules (at least at the time). Up until that time, NBC paid affiliates to broadcast their content. When the family (yeah, I'm giving them away) decided to sell, NBC came in and said now you're going to pay us to broadcast our content. That was unheard of at the time.
Anyway, as a result, the Bay Area's NBC affiliate went south to a San Jose station. Major embarassment for the prior NBC affiliate, who ended up losing all their good talent. And talent, as far as News goes.
It's actually a shame. Personally, I would have loved to see the former-NBC-affiliate-gone-independent say "Screw you! We can buy whatever content we choose".
I guess I don't get it. I can't se the advantage of having an email app on a thumb drive, other than for reference purposes, in which case you don't actualy need the app.
Take a look at the list of stars behind the characters' voices. They're not unknowns. They're pretty big stars that command hefty compensation.

If you google for "openoffice impress templates" you'll find a fair amount of templates created by users.
It would be nice if Oo.org's site had an area where you could easily search/find the type of template you needed.
But they're out there. Just scattered.

Had you actually chosen to purchase, you'd know that all those formats are available.

If not, I recommend it. They've worked hard (meaning with third parties) on wireless support.

But who's to say that an embedded OS can't function as a "real" computer?
There's something to be said for instant-on.
Also consider that PDAs are used differently here than, say, in Japan. Have you seen some of the "PDAs" available there? They're damn powerful.
Actually, yes, it does tell you a fair bit about who they are and what their vision is. It's just not flashy. but all the information's right there on the first page.

Sad thing is, I bet we'd all go see it.

So, when you call, say, a commercial database vendor *cough*Oracle*cough* with a particulary sticky support request, they give you a different answer?
Look, commercial vendors - all of them - will tell you EXACTLY the same thing when unforseen bugs come up: "It'll be fixed in the next release".
