Is to let people have fun, to let us escape life, to let us release stress, etc...
Can you do all that and learn at the same time? Sure, but it won't be easy... one thing that comes to mind is the "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiago" series.. it was great, and you learn Geography at the same time..
But it will take some effort on the game designer's behalf.. and they really can't expect big payoffs (maybe.. but probably not..)
But computers are ubitquitious nowadays, so we'll see..
And how much MS make a year again? I bet they just laugh.. seriously, I bet to be asses, they'll appeal just so they can run up the lawyer fees of the other company..
I remember Secret of Mana (and 2). That game's storyline and everything was pretty much absolutely horrible, but the fact that you can play 3 players on the SNES on a RPG was so rare that even nowadays, when a few friends and I have nothing better to do at our dorms (who needs studying?), we still grab our SNES and controllers and just hacking!
I really hope it turns out well.. and better than Phantasy Star Online. I liked Phantasy Star Online alot, and I would hope it's at least as good..
I apologize, but hey, if you were going to troll me on what's a better game, you'll always find something when you try really hard anyhow.. I'm an idiot, and just trying to make a point..
I hate it when these big companies buys a small company with a good franchise, like Heroes of Might and Magic, and just keep pumping out crap sequels...
All they kept on doing was improving the graphics, and the gameplay was more or less the same - no new innovations whatsoever.
They also did the same to High Heat Baseball.. the 2002 version was like rated the best baseball game.. and then they just got lazy, and now that honor goes to MVP Baseball of EA Sports...
I just don't like how they handled all these franchises which I actually enjoyed at one time.. ah well..
But really though, if all it does is rowing, don't we already have tons of models that uses rowing? I mean, it's not electronic, but rowing's been around for centuries!
I was like.. 10 when the craze was on (wow, it's been that long), and actually had a copy of the SF2 for Famicom... if I recalled correctly, it only had Ryu, Chun Li, M Bison and Guile.. it was cool as hell though, because no one else had it!
I even used the stupid microphone on the controller to yell hadoken.. =)
I don't understand what you mean "other people's problems".. I actually started each item at 1 dollar, and let the market decide how much it was worth, and I literally sold everything..
I might have been vague on what I meant by "exploit".. I don't mean cheating the server or anything, it's just that when the expansion just came out, anyone that plays it knows that one of the area "Bloody Hill" was insanely stupid - if you were a sorcerer, you literally can kill everything without being touched the way the level was designed - it was an design error which I think on the later patches, they made it harder..
and I just happened to ride on that design mistake - I didn't use any programs to "exploit" anything.. so maybe my choice of words weren't that accurate.. unlike the dupers and hackers and what not...
I don't take anything away from anybody - I didn't force anyone to bid on my stuff on ebay or anything.. if someone values an item at 20$, then I will sell it to them..
If you meant that as that I didn't make the game, well, I did invest tons of time on it, and I guess it's just different opinions.. then I'll just agree to disagree..
But when Blizzard first came out with Diablo 2 Expansion, I was one of those ppl that exploited an easy level-up opportunity..
which allowed me to get to level 95 in 4 days.. after that, I went all-item hunting, and just picking up tons of stuff, muling and all...
and.. sold most of it immediately on ebay.. since it was the only way to do it before cheating/duping and all those things happen, while items were actually worth money, I made about 500$, more than my money back!
ya.. supply and demand is cool, too bad Sony's soo against it..
You're right. Horizontal scrolling is horrible and painful...
with that said, I work at a financial firm where we have two-three LCD's per user, and even then, sometimes, data that generates to an excel spreadsheet takes up more horizontal space than that, and requires that kind of scrolling..
not saying it'll become a commonplace, but it surely has its applications..
I hope it's surprising and unique and _good_.. the last thing I remember that was surprising and unique.. well, turned out to be really _red_.. (virtual boy)
I second that Wario Inc opinion. It's one of the more innovative game out for GBA..
I haven't been a big fan of the GBA.. ever since getting one, the games are kind of dry.. maybe I've grown, but ya..
I hope Namco maintains the style of racing for Donkey Kong racing that was for N64, when it was developed by Rare, I don't know, but Ridge Racer V for N64 wasn't too good... and Mario Kart is right around the corner...
I guess only time will tell... Nintendo can't afford to lose any more ground..
I agree. I recommend the "Language A for Language B programmer" books for this reason.. if you're already familiar with one language, you usually don't have too much troubling learning a new one...
one example is this: on amazon..
Or, they can go the route MS did - make it easy to pirate games.
I really don't know if MS did it intentionally or unintentionally, but that's how they got so many people (along with a more mature target audience), cheap/free games get people the console, so later generations will perform better..
I know, I'm probably stretching it a bit, but hey, look at PS1, it was easy as heck to burn games, and it really caught on.. and only now Sony tries to stop piracy - because it got enough people hooked - on the PS2!
apt-get birthday.happy.1010
=)
Anyone else finds this strange? Not the fact that Rare is developing for GBA, but the fact that Nintendo is _letting_ Rare develop for the GBA...
I remember how Nintendo just refused to let Squaresoft to make GBA games until Square make some Gamecube games for defecting earlier..
Maybe it's just me..

Not surprising.. really shouldn't come as a shock to anybody, since 1993 was when Nintendo was still in a position of power..
That seal of approval actually meant something, but alas, the gamers have grown up..

Now I'm getting off-topic (actually, to be more clear, that was a few post ago), but sure.
(I wish I had, I loved HoMM...)

(You don't happen to work for 3DO, do you?)
That's probably true, but I was referring to PC version, which there isn't a World Series Baseball..

And whatever happened to privacy? Sure, it's for the law enforcement people, but err.. what if it falls into the wrong hands?
When you spend public money, you can afford consulting for name.. which is actually pretty expensive..
In fact, the Archos Jukebox records as well, and the newer versions have a little movie player!
Ya, when I saw the specs, the first thing on my mind was, "What were they thinking?"
Truly two years too late..
Ya, it's actually something I've considered doing for years, moving to Canada.. and people don't know/hate Canadians except for Americans anyhow..
I know, I know, censorship is bad.. but think of all the lives that could've caused..
and then you look around at other countries, tons of them still censors more..
of course, there are the liberal ones, but they aren't the ones where EVERYONE in the world hates...
What do you do about health insurance?
