As soon as this technology becomes pervasive I plan to zap all just-purchased clothing in the microwave for 10 seconds. I'm hoping thats enough to kill an RFID chip.
>> OLED technology just isn't good enough for this to be viable yet.
Not true. The one inch OLED display on my MPIO-one is excellent, especially with video. (http://www.mpio.com/product/productview_fg200.htm l)

What a wuss. Unfortunately there's enough guys like this to allow the music industry to walk all over the rest of us (who actually want to invoke our fair-use rights) too.
You can put the keys EXACTLY where you want, rather than rely on someone else's layout design. So you also don't need to buy different keysets for different games.
Why would anyone want to run Microsoft crapware on a Mac? The only reason (but a good one) to pay the premium for an Apple-branded intel box is to get OS/X...
That would be a good argument except just try it in REAL LIFE. Windows IS (far) worse than linux, especially on older hardware....and you're argument presupposes that reports from Microsofts own groups are unbiassed.
it seems that with any new technology, the first few models to market have a physically enormous case size (read: ugly) and are unfeasably expensive.
Back in the late 70's when the original VCR's came out, they were the size of suitcases through necessity: it really was filled with a big mechanical drive and a load of pcbs (which also accounted for the cost).
These days, it seems ludicrous to assume that just an upgraded drive/laser assembly and firmware would account for such a size/cost difference to a regular DVD player.
I guess it must all be a marketing strategy, in that it gives them new products (smaller/cheaper) with minimal development effort over the next few years.
C# is just Microsoft's own version of Java anyway. They just ripped-off Sun's ideas in order to do their usual 'make their own version of an existing standard' thing.
Anyway C# will only be cool until Microsoft come up with another 'next big thing' becuase the only way their business model can survive is if they keep selling new licences for the same old crap under a different name each time.
Its going to be really interesting to see how successful the new consortium is in forcing US copyright legislation on the rest of the world.
Or, perhaps, hardware not made in the US, or for US export only, will have versions of the interface that don't include DHCP. Gee. I wonder how long it will take for US consumers to buy their hardware from outside the US instead.
For the entire movie they should cover his crotch with pixellation effects as used in "the Sims" game when the CG characters take a shower or use the toilet.
It would serve to please the radically prudish, entertain anyone otherwise bored with the movie, and also demonstrate how blatantly ridiculous the US sense of morality has become.
>> I would vehemently oppose ANY attempt by humans to control our weather!
Uh.. too late... 298000000 americans burning 20.7 million barrels of gasoline a day in their big cars have beaten you to it.

in *nix, user-level apps don't have write-access to system directories beats the hell out of the Microsoft model.
Don't even get me started on the stupidity of how installing an app in windows allows it to extend the whole OS.
Talk about bloatware... it is truly amazing (in a bad way) what the minimum hardware spec has become for windows.
Its really just a graphical program launching environment yet it now needs more resouces than what a mainframe could deliver a just a few years ago.
> but I'd be more than happy to pay an extra $20 or even $50/month to have faster access
well I wouldn't. I already pay $50/month for cable. Thats more than enough bandwidth and cost for me, thanks.

>> In short, Microsoft needs to seriously clean up this mess.
Oh god please no. This needs a to be a well-designed OS-independent standard. Unfortunately Microsoft aren't capable of either concept.
most Americans are taking their lead from their president. That'll be sure to save us all.
something else to add to the list of "Bad things we have imported from the USA", along with McDonalds and (c)rap-music.

Really? What about Max Headroom back in 1987.
Xen needs support coded in the kernel, so it won't ever be able to run Windows (unless Microsoft assimilate Xen).

bite me
umm.. so Xen is better then, at least because it is more flexible.
people understood that MS Windows is just an operating system, not part of the computer itself, and that there are better alternatives such as Linux.
the ergodex dx1 input system. http://www.ergodex.com/content.php?id=12

I'm not a US citizen, but I thought US had laws to protect freedom of speech.
Can someone who knows please confirm this?, And if so, why the student can't get an easy win just by the threat of pursuing this legally?

not to upgrade to vista.
If I do, i won't be able to play the DVD collection I legitimately bought in Europe before I emmigrated to the US.

Honestly if thats the entire list then I'm not bothered anyway because I wouldn't consider wasting the price of a CD on any of them.
If Sony are worried about their lost sales, why don't they start by improving the quality of their product by signing better artists?
I'm pleased that they're using HDCP as it's been cracked already.
