It's amazing the number of technologically inept that market themselves as "Computer Experts"!!! I had to fix my girlfriend's mother's computer, that had been set up by one of these "Experts"...
"So, you're saying he installed AOL 9, but that didn't work, so he deleted it and installed AOL 8 instead. And now that it doesn't work he says the problem is your virus protection software, so he says you need to disable that... Wow! I'm... speechless."
not being backwards compatible will just push everyone to playstation
When the PS1 first came out, it wasn't compatible with its predecessors games... like Little League baseball and Youth Soccer. Kids still bought it like mad, and ditched those old games forever.
"But what digital watches can't do, according to sweep-hand proponents, is display the time and context as elegantly and intuitively as an analog model."
I have yet to see an analog that can match the elegance of my old digital LaserBeam WristWatch... Press the little button and the hands magically *Disappear*
No, they do, I downloaded it a couple weeks back and tried installing it. Didn't even detect my Logitech USB wheelmouse upon starting installation. I mean, "Beta"? For real?
2 Gigs over a slow DSL connection and 3 coasters... I would definitely recommend waiting for a "Final" community release before even bothering to try participating.
They tacked on an extra $12 to my cable internet bill this past month, so I called them up and fired them immediately, and then ordered DSL instead. It's slower, but I just can't stand a company that thinks they can lie about what they provide, and then gouge you for believing it.
C'mon, 60 bucks for an internet-only subscription?! You're out of your mind.
That sweet compile farm I always wanted to build could seriously be worth it pretty soon. DistCC and 4 modded xboxes for around 500 bucks? That sounds Funtastic!
This is going to be a serious blow to the moral credibility of the OSS community, not just Linux users.
Hmmm... AFAIK, the virus is closed source. However, it could have been developed twice as fast, at half the cost with better reliability if only they'd bothered to ask us.
The article mentions varying the initial conditions of release angle, velocity, angular velocity, but never talks about using different shapes of stones (discs).
Any disc golfer or ultimate frisbee player can tell you that changing the shape or weight of your disc can very significantly affect its dynamics. It could be that they've only found the ideal release conditions for the particular disc they were testing with.
I remember a time when the world looked to the US for guidance. But somewhere in the mid 70's, the shift began to turn.
So what? You think Nixon's impeachment brought the USA into disfavor? Hey we paid attention to human rights then as we do now... for a very strict definition of "Human".
Considering today's technology, photographs should never be admissable as evidence unless the source can verified and possibility of tampering is eliminated...
One thing they left out (and I don't blame them) but is very important to me is compile time CPU performance. I've noticed that I've gone from a 600 mhz to 2.4 Ghz without that much benefit to compile time... certainly not 4 times:)
Has anyone done any comparisons about the best system to use in terms of improving compile-time per cost? Will 64-bit help? Is the extra cost of going to multiple processors worth it?
but the court did not rule that provision of the DMCA unconstitutional
So what does that mean? How do you get a ruling that says this garbage is unconstitutional? I read the following in the ruling but didn't understand it: "Because we agree with Verizon's interpretation of
the statute, we reverse the orders of the district court
enforcing the subpoenas and do not reach either of Verizon's
constitutional arguments."
You know, I had basically the identical experience this summer... but reading your post, I realize that I don't even know what speed my processor is. It's AMD in the 2's somewhere, but not quite a 3.
Me 8 years ago would consider me now quite a loser.

Now, how many people are using their folded-newtonian telescope to watch their neighbor's teenage daughter use the Tivo to replay the Jackson Boobies?

Dear 5la5hD0t,
All our base are belong to you.

I think that's exactly the point Microsoft is trying to make by funding SCO in their pursuit of this lawsuit.

Yeah, just don't buy point-two releases... At least not if you like that little spinny disc player thing.

They're easier to fake than lie detectors.

And to avoid MS-bashing, I mean officially unsupported... not just crappy support like you get with Office 2003

The worst MS ever did was touch it unclean places.
I've been looking all over...
"Unlimited Cox" -- now that's an ISP in tune with my Internet needs.
Then they can call it "Winamp Prime" which would also kick ass.
After that glowing review, I might just have to go see this movie after all...
Me 8 years ago would consider me now quite a loser.
just reminded me of a headline from theonion.com a couple weeks back -- "Rap group Outkast now universally accepted."
classic.
...A governor who understands technology!
