I was in the Manhattan slum last year. Way too many people No wonder rents are high. I doubt AirBnB (which I used for a few days) had much to do with it.
I read this article and was thinking of a movie I saw when I was 10 or so about industrial pollutants in North East US causing some bear to become a mutant monster. I can see that still happening with all they're doing now.
This is why they killed the consumer phone market. They realized they had zero chance against Android and Iphone in the consumer space and no one in corporate america was buying either. However, we all would want an LTE enabled Windows device that can run all the apps in a decent form factor.
Being a Windows Mobile fan, especially Windows 10, I really liked where the devices were going. Microsoft even sent me a 950xl, which I mostly loved. (I very much disliked the power button placement, but the phone and camera were top-notch.)
Since I abandoned Android after they dumbed it down in Jellybean, I decided to move on to an Iphone and have both a 7+ and a X. Great phones and the Microsoft apps like Office, OneNote, OneDrive, OfficeLens, Skype for Business, and Office 365 Admin work better on Ios than on Windows Mobile.
Washington, Hamilton, and a few others came up with the idea over beers to help control the power of large colonies like Virginia so they didn't overrule smaller ones like New York or Massachusetts.
Doesn't work with teens. They are not programmed to get up at the butt crack of dawn and sit motionless in a hard uncomfortable chair for hours on end listening to someone squawk about subjects they couldn't care less about.
I was there and unfortunately my son also suffered through this. Fortunately he escaped.
There was a survey in California last year asking if school start times should be later. I said, "yes." Apparently i was in the minority.
Since we all went to Berlin in early November '89 to start hammering at the Wall, I thought the whole East vs. West problem was solved. With Russia supposedly no longer our enemy, and the US not working to isolate them via Truman's Doctrine, why would they want to mess with the USA? Wouldn't it be more productive to have them mess with a third-world country?
Seriously, Microsoft is far more about services and ongoing subscriptions than the old model of selling desktops. Yes, the desktop software business still brings in money, but not nearly as much as services and subscriptions. For instance, I have a MS engineer onsite right now helping my department with our SCCM and OPP deployment process to our 1500 or so desktops. The cost annually for my Windows desktop licenses pales in comparison to the amount paid for O365 hosted exchanges, OPP, and professional services.
They don't even flinch anymore when we mention Linux.
I do use the Iphone 10, and find it a great - if a bit small - device. While I much preferred my 950xl, that's useless now. I actually have no issue with the notch and the face ID. The real issue is the move from 4:3 ratio on all good devices to the less friendly 16:9 ratio. I have a Galaxy S8 as well that has that stupid ratio. It is very difficult to perform work on.
I hope the Android fanbois at MWC don't move more towards that useless form factor.
But seriously, I see in both articles that really the "learning" only takes place currently with handcrafted scenarios. If, however, the scenarios can be automated or "learned" then - well - maybe.
Thinking of Marty Feldman's Igor in Young Frankenstein, I honestly hadn't put much thought into the notch. I've been using the Iphone 10 since December and find zero issues with the notch. I do wish it were bigger like my Iphone 7+ or my HP Elite X3, but hopefully they'll come out with a Plus size version soon. My only drawback doesn't have to do with the notch but the narrow screen. The device isn't much bigger than the Iphone 6 units at my work.
Seriously, I think more people are talking like the notch is an issue than those of us with the device. Whatever they say.
I have a staff partially composed of millenials and Generation Z staff. A few of the younger staff have opted to not purchase a car and instead use either Uber or Lyft to head into work. In speaking with one, she indicated she is saving to purchase a house and not having a vehicle is allowing her to do that. My son indicated originally he didn't want his drivers licence until he realized Lyft doesn't go to the desert.
Which is how our 1969-based tally system works, running on multiple PCs connected via Token Ring to a collection UNIX machine that FTP's the results to the State and internal servers.
While I'm in no means an Apple fan-boi, I have switched first from Android then to Windows Mobile and now to Iphone. I did buy the X, which replaced a perfectly good 950xl and now have a X for personal use and a 7+ for work. Teh Apple peeps are not going to switch anytime soon to Android and probably don't need to be wowed at CES anymore. Most of my sons' friends are Iphone users as are many of my co-workers. My older son is the only one his age I know who has an Android device.
Great discussion though - wonder if the Cult of Mac is finally fading. My younger son's school adopted an all Chromebook policy. Every student has one for testing and homework. Back when I was in high school the Apple IIe and Mac SE were all the rage. Not anymore.
Is my SUV now less polluting?
(Just kidding, I drive a hybrid and only have the suv on weekends.)
I spent probably 23 hours inside. Between work, my car, and home - i'm inside most of the time.
I've heard there's this thing called teh sun that emits radiation. I don't want skin cancer.
Also, i'm in Los Angeles, where our motto is, "never trust air you can't see."
I assume they will go lower carbs. But will it include sugar? grains? low fat?

After teh events in California with the Golden State Killer this past week, one has to wonder if FB is the bad boy or is it Ancestry.com / 23 & Me.

Now, does it play Minecraft?

Go figure.

Goat C??

Ah, valid point. We need another enemy now that the Taliban is more or less quiet.

Wow, second goatse link in a day. I must get back to /. more often.
There's a French goatse??
I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.
Do they use an Iphone also?
It is just like any other requirement. If thatâ€(TM)s the UI guideline then follow it or donâ€(TM)t develop.
I used to be a developer but unfortunately was better at managing developers.

when will the FDA protect us against those drugs?

"hand count" - so, who would hand count the roughly 4,000,000 paper ballots we get every major election in LA County?
